Hi guys,
A somewhat Poor turnout this evening, for the Opening round of the 2011 Club Championships, there being Only 4 starters for 1/32 Modern GT and 5 for the 1/24th Classics
Kind of Hard to take the racing very seriously in these situations, but some Obviously Very Clean and enjoyable racing was had anyway.
Didn't take any pics tonite either, (Guess I wasn't that Inspired), Even though there WAS a New,..NON Mosler being run!,..lol
I Finally managed to give my New SCX Ferrari FXX bodied car a run, but with a somewhat 'Hastily' mounted body ( I spent too much time getting my New Group C car together, Only to find out we weren't racing them tonite !!,..Doh!) and a not so good Motor (in fact it was as Slow as !!,..lol), unfortunately made for a Less than enthralling 1/32 race for myself, as I was up against Some of the Quicker Moslers and Drivers, being Dale Anderson, Troy Boldy and John Whiley !!!
The car certainly Drove nicely and seems to handle quite well, so hopefully with a better mounted body and a decent Motor it may yet Prove to be a competitive possibility, it's atleast in 'the ball park' weight wise against the Moslers, weighing in at 128 grams, compared to 144 or so for my Maserati !!! Giving up 20 grams to the Moslers sure ain't a Good Start !!,..
John managed to hold the early lead, only for Troy to Take up the #1 spot from the 3rd bracket onwards, leaving Dale and John to argue over the other two Podium positions, which they did for the rest of the race, with John finally pulling slightly ahead of dale at the end, with Myself bringing up the rear,..Not ALL that far behind, but completely incapable of doing anything about their relentless progress !!,..lol
Final outcome;
1st Troy 217 laps
2nd John 212 laps
3rd Dale 209 laps
4th Stoo 193 laps
As mentioned,...5 of us in the 1/24th Classics class, the same runners as above, along with Bevan Halloran, who hopefully might be joining us on a more regular basis
I had built up a 2nd car, from a Previous Winning Booty prize and have it virtually the same as my Normal 'Piper Green Porka and had been testing different tyres etc on a previous outing and found this car to also be quite good, so decided to Give it a run, which was good,..(even with it's unfortunate Trip to the Floor and resulting buggered bearings!!). Not the fastest motor, but still a quite good one and had an OK run, (Should have done Better,..but what the hey),..lol
Quite a good race and quite Fun really. We were all just having a bit of a good run really, Very clean racing as one could imagine, (you could count ALL the de-slots on one hand !!,..lol)
It was relatively close as well, although strangely Dales lap totals were somewhat down on the night compared to his usual form!
Basically, Troy and I battled over 1st and 2nd, with John, Dale and Bevan haggling over the other positions, Bevan and John swapping positions race long, with Bevan finally pulling slightly ahead towards the end.
Final outcome;
1st Troy 159 laps
2nd Stoo 156 laps
3rd Bevan 154 laps
4th John 152 laps
5th Dale 144 laps
A somewhat quiet Night at HSC, (apart from some Noisy 'Wing Cars' !!,..lol) which was probably good after the Intensity of the Kids Party that I walked in on and helped marshall,..Eeeek !!!,..I don't Know How you guys do it !!
OK racing,..but perhaps a bit anti climactic when compared to Our Normal Plafit racing and Very competitive Retro racing.
I guess perhaps as well, as there seems to be a wish, or suggestion that the running is on a track 'Less Stuck' than usual and at a Slightly Lower voltage, the suggestion being so as to get plenty of practice for the upcoming APC !!
Possibly good, but I don't think Anyone was actually running a car in APC 'spec' tonite !!
Whilst arguably good preparation for the APC,..may I say I will be Glad to be Past that event and Back to the Normal Voltage/Track prep and the Great racing we Usually have and Have been having with this class/these cars in the previous club events!!
See you at the Next round, which I believe will be for Group C,..F1 ?? and JGT ??,..Not sure,..will let you all know when I do!,..lol
Cheers
