HSC 2019 Retro Series Rnd 4 - BTR 04/05/2019

Post by Mark Fox »

Hi All

The 4th round of the HSC Retro Series for the year attracted a disappointing 5 entries so we decided to call it a day and go to the pub.

Plan B - run a race with one marshal and the track call button which we did as Joe and Darryl don't drink and Stoo not really either - also Neil and I didn't want to drive home pissed as it is not the 70's anymore.

A ding dong battle between Darryl and I with never more than a lap in it for me to win by 3.115 secs over Darryl - this was my revenge for the last time we met on this track when he beat me by 0.595 sec!

Joe was extremely unlucky having a solder joint give way on one of his pans but he was on fire early on setting fastest time of the night.

Joe's bad luck continued and unfortunately he was out after less than 30 seconds and so kindly took up marshaling duties to help James out.

Stoo finished 3rd but also suffered a bit of mechanical bother - his car was quick as can be seen however it was myself prevailing over Darryl again at the pointy end.

What can I say - a somewhat disappointing number of racers but we had a great time and as always a big thanks to James for the track prep and marshaling.
Regards - Mark 8-)

Thanks for the report Mark.

Yeah,.. a somewhat disappointing turn out really, but as suggested, it was another typically enjoyable race.

I was in many ways quite pleased with my own driving on the night, (at least in CanAm), as I was quite happy with the 'Donut' end of the track :) the CanAm car 'Drives' OK just lacks 'Legs', whereas the F1 Definitely Had (and was ON the Pace),... until my Front Wheel retainer 'foibles' and the resultant 'chase' mode over-driving that then ensued,.. LOL

Whilst happy with my driving on the 'Donut' end of the track (sort of), I seem to manage to come off on all the other corners I normally have No difficulty with Ha Ha Ha,.. Perhaps we Should have gone to the Pub ;) ;) :D

An enjoyable night's racing and social interaction :) thanks to those that turned up and to James (and Joe) for the Marshalling and Prep etc.
