Hi again to everyone,... has been a while since my last Race report,.. mainly as I haven't actually been racing much.
Well, after More than 'Half a Century', the Long Standing "Jack Brabham Trophy", (which Had Always been for 'Scratch-built' F1 Cars), has now been Re-Instated by Wayne Bramble, with a 'New', "Sir Jack Brabham Trophy", named Event and Trophy.
Having also sadly Not been able to attend the Retro Nat's at KingWilly's in Victoria earlier this year, I figured I Could NOT miss This race,..especially as it is So Close !!,..
Plus, it was undoubtedly going to be fun racing F1's with the JK Retro Hawk motors on this New track pf Wayne's,.. Especially as we had never done so before, so was in effect New territory for All of us,..although perhaps Not so for Cody !!,..lol
Personally,..I was really only sort of 'Half prepared',.. I had I guess already decided to use my Original F1 chassis, as without the 'Centre weight', I figured it should work OK, although I did set up my other F1 as a comparison and the differences were actually quite noticeable, the Two cars driving the track quite differently and it was a slightly difficult decision as to which one to use for the race,..but went with my gut feelings and ... lap times,..lol and went with the older car.
I had not built a lighter CanAm car, so new I was going to be at a distinct disadvantage and would just be,.. making up the numbers. Even at only about 114 grams, this 'modded' JK chassis, was still a bit 'Heavy' and Surprisingly !!, with the Truescale McLaren M8 body I was running, it was getting so much downforce, that it was pushing the rear of the pans down towards the end of the main straight and through the bank !! A chassis design fault I have Now become Aware of !!,..lol,..but was pleasantly surprised by the ,..eventual speed of the car,..it Could have fared much better,.. had I started the race with Well run in Tyres and a Motor that had Also run in !!,..lol
Anyway,..it Was a Load of FUN and was reasonably Happy with my driving on the Night,..and also Very pleased with the eventual performance of the F1 !! It was really hauling towards the end and I perhaps tried a 'tad' too hard to catch Darryl in the last bracket and de-slotted a couple of times,...was great racing all evening
Cody's F1 had 'the Pace' from the 'Get-Go' and he drove a very 'metered' and excellent race.
He ran Lindsay Byron's "Ultralight" in the CanAm race and there is No doubt the car is 'blisteringly' Fast, if perhaps a car that whilst fast, is also,... 'On the Edge' as it were.
At something like 76 grams,.. it performs extremely well, as I guess one Could expect and Cody Also drove this car extremely well, to a fine and deserved Win !!
It Does perhaps raise the subject of perhaps having an 'appropriate' Minimum Weight limit, (as we have had previously and exists elsewhere in Both classes), ..but that's another matter that can be discussed elsewhere.
On to the racing,..

Re: Sir Jack Brabham trophy race 2014
Well done Cody! That is a very prestigious title to have to your name. Both Jack Brabham himself and the Jack Brabham Trophy have a very rich history, so kudos to you!
