Retro F1 Rule changes

Post by jcol56 »

After several hours practice yesterday with Mark at HSC, two things became glaringly obvious:
1. Mark's car is a lot faster than mine!
2. A smaller rear tire works better for this type of car.
So I am reducing the minimum rear tire size to .790 for F1 for our evolving rule draft which is taking form as I type! This will also enable us to recycle our used Canam tires to race on our F1 cars. The small track will be open for practice after 5:00pm, Friday, 23rd October. The price is $5.00 for the rest of the night.
See you soon,
James.

I think the change to 0.790" makes a lot of sense.

P.S.
I was using full size (new) Alphas yesterday when I did my fastest times ;)

You know,..having been thinking about this for a while now and possibly with Reference to Both 'Scale' realities and perhaps the cars of Nils as seen on SlotBlog, like they run in Europe,..as Well as eyeballing that Lotus 56 Wedge,..I was thinking how Much 'Cooler' it would look with 'Taller' Narrower Tyres !!!

:D

I must admit, it Could be argued that the Extra overall Width of the cars Plus the Extra Chassis width,..along with NOW, both Smaller Diameter Front AND Rear Tyres,..Will make the Cars looked,...shall we say somewhat 'Squished' !!,.. :D :D :D

I guess one Could also argue, that around That Little Track,..Smaller Dia' Tyres would make almost Any car Go better around all those turns !!,..

I guess it's a good Idea, but one could also just Buy 'New' .790's,..Yes ??

Also makes you wonder whether a slightly more 'Scale',..perhaps as Some of them Were, F2 chassis, maybe a 3" wide car might be able to 'Nip' around,..unencumbered by Extra Wide F1's and Walls !!!

Might be worth 'Contemplating a 'Shark-Nose' !!!
