SRC #6 25 July 2023
SRC #6 25 July 2023
Hi all ,
This is my attempt to report on the evening's racing .
As I do not really pay attention to detail , (as most of you do), if anyone else wants to add to my recollections with additions or corrections, please do !!!
CAN-AM Retro
We had a field of 8 starters and ran in a 'Round Robin' format ... not bad considering Dave and Mark are on holidays and Greg was caught up in work related issues...
We also had Graeme with us, who has been racing at Penrith and is keen to get back into the racing again, as he used to race back in the 'glory days'
Even with loaner cars from Ando', I think he is already 'on the pace' well done !!!
OK, The race started with Wayne and myself starting on the byes.
Charles and Casey got away quickly on fast lanes with Troy and Graeme close behind, with Neil next and Ando , who were still fast was , didn't seem to have the HP .
As the race sheet will show, the race lap times have come down a LOT, as of late , and lap totals are Rising ,,, very fast racing
I know that Wayne had his car super 'dialed-in' and would probably have won in the end, but as "luck would have it", the Braid on Rd gave him grief, at least a few times, which spooked me, as I followed him on the lane swaps.
I had my own issues on red with cars parked on my lane frequently but that's racing !!!!!!
Charles pulled the fastest lap time I have seen in a race, with a 4.136 in the last bracket, amazing and Not a 'short lap' either.
He was on a mission !!!!
So in the end, I set a new lap record, with 244 laps, Wayne did 243 laps and Charles 242 laps.
The question is, how fast & far can we go ?????
All in all, a very fast race.
Big thanks to Ando' for the fantastic track prep', Ron for running the race, Toni (as usual), for the great food and the 'tech scrutineer' for amazing accuracy !! ....... .
Well done all ...cheers Darryl
GT-I
Same racers as retro,
THIS RACE 2 heats
HEAT 1 ---------- Neil, Casey, Graeme and Ando'
Casey and Ando' ripped away doing 3.7 s, with Graeme and Neil doing very respectable 3.9s.
Amazingly Casey only using a HAWK 7 !! He (obviously), knows how to 'squeeze' that Trigger ... HARD !!!
After a couple of laps, Ando' starts breaking into the 3.6 s.......damn quick !!!!!
Casey continued with super fast times but didn't have the HP. Fantastic drive, considering.
Graeme kept up a consistent fast drive, well done and Neil, who was also on the pace, had car issues and unfortunately, retired mid 3rd bracket.
So Ando 'takes the win', with 272 laps Great drive !!
HEAT 2 ............ Wayne, Charles, Darryl and Troy
Well after last months lap total, it was always going to be very interesting to see How fast can Charles go ??????????
As it turns out, .... Much Faster !! .... 3 x 3.5's a 3.4 and 2 x 3.6's.
He gave us all a 'hiding', with a New Record of 287 laps ... super well done Charles !!!!!!
Troy and I battled it out for 2nd and 3rd but Troy was very fast and consistent.
Troy bettered Charles' last month 280 laps by 2, with 282 laps, well done and I was happy to get 280 ,,,, my very best.
Wayne was down on HP but still drove a great race, as always.
So, thats my recollection, a VERY Fast night of Racing. Many PB's and a fun night.
Thanks to all who attended.
Cheers Darryl .

Hi All from the rainy north of England.
Thanks for the great report Darryl– I could almost smell the burning rubber.
The cars and track sound like they were in super condition with all the new records.
Well done all.

Yes, thank you very much for the Great report Darryl
Much appreciated.
Makes me Really wish I could have joined you all inside,.. if even just to watch !!
It was a Long, COLD distance to Drive, for no reason

Re: SRC #6 25 July 2023 ??
Thanks Darryl great job on the race report
I think that is pretty much how it went down
Just need to find tune my Retro to keep up with you and Dave and Mark.
Should be some fun racing when we have every one back on deck.
I know my total laps was a 243 and a PB my previous best a 234
This is a new car and hopefully with some fine tuning I can give Charles a run for fastest lap, only a tenth behind hey Troy Boldy.
And Mark you will be happy the two quickest times where set by Charles and my personal builds.
Thanks to Ando for a great night and also Toni on the bbq
Lets go racing

Re: SRC #6 25 July 2023 ??
So a question from a non-expert: how does the track keep getting faster? Thanks.
Re: SRC #6 25 July 2023 ??
Well, the track has seen a few adjustments in more recent times, so it is 'Sitting' well, it was in a Great state of Prep' apparently (Spray goo conditions), PLUS it was Damn Cold !!
Always good for Motors
Plus, people have just become More focused I guess, good car prep' etc, hard to say really, but we Know it happens
