Cross City GT1 Championship!!!

Post by WSMCR-Plucka »

James and Wayne at Hornsby slotcars have been in touch to first organise a road trip to our shop for some GT1 racing and they then took it one step further and put forth the idea for a cross city series.

The guys offered us the opportunity to host the first event and this will be on the 1st of September (Tuesday night) and racing will start around 7:30 and we will also be running the Aussie Retro cars right after them so it should be a huge night (plan for wednesday off work ha ha).

We can then work out a date for the next event to be held at HSC.

The rules for GT1 and retro are what Hornsby run at the moment as this allows more cars into it (basically as long as it has a falcon motor and the GT1 body then your GT1 legal and Retro we need some extra cars or some of us can marshall for you guys).

Now i am putting this idea out there for some ideas.

Charge $10 an entry, $5 goes to the track and the other $5 to the end of series top 3 and they get trophies?

I am happy to put up a shield for the overall champion and we can do this as often as we need (6 race series over 5 or 6 months?)

Ideas and thoughts.

Sounds like a good night.

Just a few questions;
Is the GT1 for teams or individuals?
Is the suggested $10 for the GT1, and the AR additional?
What body is to be used on the AR cars? CanAm open, Coupe, or either?

Can you point us to the Hornsby GT1 regs? I have tried to locate them a few times without success.

Or, are they similar to those suggested by MR Slotcar
i.e.
CHASSIS: JK Cheetah 7, Champion Turbo Flex , Champion Astro , Parma Flexi-2 and the Mossetti chassis only.
No other chassis is allowed.

GEARS: Any brand 64 pitch and 48 pitch pinion. Any brand 64 pitch and 48 pitch spur gear.
This will allow 1/8 axles to run if the racer wants to!

MOTOR: An un-tampered JK Falcon7 motor JK-30207 only.
WHEELS FRONT: minimum diameter 1/2" aluminium replacement wheels with “O” ring tyres.
(The tyres must contact the track before any part of the chassis - tip and touch rule).

WHEELS REARS: Any 3/32" or 1/8"
AXLES FRONT: Max. diameter 1/16”. Maybe soldered at the pillow blocks only.
AXLES REAR: 3/32" or 1/8" solid only. Oilites only and they may be soldered or glued in.
BODY: To be determined by the host track.

I'm interested in entering, but don't want to have to spend money on JK chassis when I have a few Parma/Champions that could be used.

Thanks.

dsr, I hope you are correct, but I haven't been able to see the HSC regs anywhere, and the WSMCR regs list only JK frames.

Hence the question.

It would be great if there was uniformity in the GT1 regs.

If everyone only used the JK frame, then that would also be fine.

Any Commercially available 4" Flexi style chassis (with pin mounting as an option over body clips) and 1/8th or 3/32 drive are the basic changes to our rules that we will be running for this series.

I can amend ours and post them and then its up to the guys at HSC to post the Retro body rules.

Plucka, cool about the chassis, thanks.

I only asked about the Retro body because HSC is running Coupes at the moment, and we originally kicked off with pre 1970 CanAm open top cars.

Just for a fun race, it probably doesn't make any difference, so why not allow either to run?

I reckon this sounds like a Great Idea,..which unfortunately, I Won't be able to attend,..sigh.

I have Regular work on Tuesday evenings,..But I Do hope there Is a healthy turn up.

As to the Retro's,..I reckon just run what ya brung,..as can be seen from the more recent races at HSC, we Haven't been running Exclusively Coupe bodies so I agree, make it so either body style can be run.

Pretty sure Fox and Hutcho will be there,..Hope it's a Great nite / series etc.

With regards to Aussie Retro rules: they are on the HSC website under, "News and Events". Retro bodies will be either coupes or canam (your choice).

That's a bugger Stoo.
Talking to Shane today, and he is not sure how many (if any) are going!!
No-one has let him know. :(
He has a few of his local guys lined up, and I'm 90% of getting there.

So yeah, hope we get a few.

Yeah, should be OK. Talking to Plucka last night, and he thinks there may be 4 or 5 guys for the GT1s and a couple of those for Retro.

This just shows the laps and position achieved by each entrant.
