Raceworld 2016 Retro Series Rnd 5 - 25/06/2016

Battling on the super quick Gerding King at Raceworld is always fast and furious and is a real test of equipment - any shortcomings in preparation and you will be found wanting here. (9 racers tonight and so a round robin was decided on with the help of volunteer marshals.

Just a word of thanks to these marshals as it is really a huge help and so a big thanks to Wayne, Karin, Cody and Kelly in assisting Wayne B to run the race.

Neil took a clean sweep of the pretty car awards and it was well deserved; check the driver detail and general quality of presentation.

Now to the Racing

CanAm

Qualifying - saw myself and Lindsay break into the 5.0--s but no sub 4's tonight (Wayne B later told me that track power was down on the night) and I managed to pip Lindsay by about 2 hundredths of a sec - very close.

Racing - with the round-robin in effect (drivers take a bye after Red Lane) its not always easy to tell how things are but after the first 4 brackets before Lindsay took a bye he led me by 3 laps and that's how it stayed - just a little more pace than I - wicked fast around the loop and thus hit the straight really hard. The field was stretched out a little with Bob coming in a solid 3rd 11 laps down on me and Phill 4th 11 laps adrift of Bob.

Qualifying saw me again head off Lindsay but by nearly a tenth of a sec this time

Racing - again a round-robin this race was fast and saw 1 lap more in total than CanAm! Back to my comments on preparation as we saw 4 of the 9 starters pull out as troubles or crashes saw them off.
Ultimately it was a fairly comfortable win for me finishing 10 laps up over Lindsay who was 5 laps over Jake for 3rd.
