HSC Retro 'Flat Track' Series R5. 13 June 2015

Hi All

Well it was the last of the Can Am part of the HSC Retro Series last weekend (note for the rest of the series we will race Coupes and F1's) so it was great to get 8 starters in each class. The field included the return of Stoo (who has been missing in action due to work commitments) and a relative new-comer Matthew (who had his first Retro start at the Geoghegan) who has experience on the track albeit racing Scalextrix (in the opposite direction!!!).

Can Am Race

With 8 starters there were two heats.

Heat 1 saw (L-R ) Stoo, Darryl, Matthew and Bill battle it out with Darryl leading nearly all the way over Stoo, Matthew and Bill.

Heat 2 saw (L-R) Peter, Paul, Mark (not Mary) and Leigh go hard with Mark leading all the way over Paul, Peter and Leigh. Leigh was up there and level pegging with Paul just behind Mark when he ran into major problems which saw only 2 laps totaled on Purple and Black (ouch).

F1 Race

Again there were two heats.

Heat 1 saw (L-R) that Stoo had shaken off the dust from his lay-off and 'warm-up' in the Can Am race to lead all the way. There was a fine battle between Darryl and Matthew in the first half of the race which saw Darryl take control and second whilst steady Bill just cruised around and nearly got Matthew who finished only 1 lap up over Bill.

Heat 2 saw (L-R) Peter, Paul, Mark and Leigh battle it out. Basically I lead for the first 3 brackets until I hit Black. Leigh then hits the lead with Paul on the same lap and moi 1 lap down. With the pace being absolutely cracking Paul hung in and showed his class and nerve to hold off from Mark (0.117 sec) and Leigh (2 laps). Peter put in a solid effort and finished with a solid 22 on Blue.
