I am also keen for there to be a single set of rules. as close to the US rules as we can get is also my preference. save for motor, bushings and F1 wheel size (I've built too many F1 cars to want it to change. 10 cars in total, 8 still existing, 1 is mine, 2 scrapped for spares)

I had a chat with Troy tonight at the SRC round. he has taken the "offending" car and applied a file to the bushings and made it legal at 3.125". We had a giggle about it too.

I also had a chat with Steve about this thread, in particular my "passion" for the class. He indicated that he was looking for a discussion, and we agreed that we got exactly that and that it was a good thing.

My comment on there appearing to be 2 sets of rules was based on referencing "HSC rules" and "original rules". If we can get them aligned, the better off we ALL are. I only became aware that there was a difference via this thread, so it's all good. I believe we all want the same thing. multiple rulesets basically equates to IRRA vs D3 and we know that didn't work out too well.

I also am not intending to show anyone in our AU retro world any disrespect. we are indebted to the original founders and I thank them for getting it going.

Totally agree that we are a happy family. Now we are definitely on the same page.

to explain why I might appear to be (a little) crazy on the subject....
6 months racing retro (first race in march)
22 new chassis and counting (only 7 kits, not all mine),
+ 5 full rebuilds, rails and all
+ 3 major car mods
+ 1 awaiting rebuild (completely stripped)
+ 2 cars abandoned, stripped for spares
+ cad drawings for all my non-kit cars and ideas
+ numerous ideas not put on the jig yet

Hope you wear protection from all that acid flux..

A global rule set would be a nice thing, but is unlikely because of local requirements.
That's not a bad thing per say, but when builders are designing their new cars, keep in mind the different rule sets where they may be competing, and design cars that could be set up to comply with either rule set.

eg, local track events and/or State/National events where different rules might apply.

The regs shown on the Aussie Retro site will be as close to the IRRA (USA) as can be with the only differences being our selected motor, axle bushes instead of ball races, F1 tyre size, and approved body list.

So if any group is planning on creating an Aussie Retro race/series, that would be a good place to start.

Just re-reading this thread, and I have come across a bit obnoxious, for which I am sorry.
As Stoo mentioned, I was one of the threesome who helped initiate Retro at HSC, and because of that have a preference to maintain the 'Retro' spirit as close to the original concept as possible.
I was out of order to voice my opinion on a public forum, and should have done it in private.
