GT1 Racing @ King Willys

Post by il cavalino »

Hi All,

We had the first race last night of our new GT1 class:

JK GT1 bodies, Cheetah 7 chassis and JK Falcon 7 motors.

The cars are great, Falcon motors faster than a Std 16d and improve the handling of the Flexi chassis.

TQ was Rob Ferris with a 4.45 (compares with the record of times of 4.7, 4.8 for the same chassis, body combination and Std 16D motor)

Race laps were about 15 - 20 laps more than using a 16d motor.

Looks like this is going to be a good class.

More next week.

Hi Carl,

Yes we are using 3/32 rear end and 64p gears(well everyone except the poor old track owner coz his car has to double as his Thusday night V8 tourers so have to keep 1/8 rear end).

BTW I have never ridden a bucking bull

Falcon 7 Motors are by far the best bang for buck motor for a beginner car. Cars handle well with them they are consistent out of the bag what more can you ask for. We are just changing the tops from series to series even going to put them in Parma 1 chassis for a series. Good to see another raceway using them.

We are still racing the Falcon 7 GT1 class here, they drive really nicely (handle much better than a 16D), Love those bodies.

Tried a couple of the JK Touring car bodies on Sunday - Focus and Lancer and they handle surprisingly well, only about 0.1 sec slower than the GT1 bodies.

Having a problem gettting the motors though, have had to source them through HSC and even Alpha!!

Apparently our wholesaler got some in recently but they all went up to Nth Qld.
