We had our first round at Luddenham last night, and Troy blitzed us... again..

Many thanks to those for making the effort to travel out into the sticks, on a chilly night.

Everyone was happy racing in the opposite direction to our normal race nights, so we have decided to do the same for our second round on 4th Sept. Cars to be wired same as Hornsby.

I'd like to ask all entrants to ensure that their cars comply with the regulations before submitting them for tech. Certainly with the Aussie Retro, as the GT1 seems to be ok.

As far as I know, the rules for Aussie Retro Can-Am can be found here at "Can-Am" on the Aussie Retro page.

The main concerns last night were;
- Overall width of chassis, including to outside of rear wheels. Should be 3-1/8" or 79.38mm.
If the chassis has been built wide at the back, and results in regular wheels exceeding this dimension, you are required to reduce the width of the wheels to comply with the max overall width.

- Track Clearance. Should be; Rear = 0.047" (18g, or 1.19mm); Front = 0.015" (0.38mm)
The front is measured at the most forward part of the chassis.
The rear is measured under the motor bracket, rear chassis section, and gear.

- Rear tyre diameter. Should be minimum 0.8125" (20.64mm)
Clearly, if you put new 0.812" (13/16") tyres on and practice with them, they will end up under-size for the race. You should probably start off with 0.820" or 0.850" tyres, so that you get a bit of life out of them, and would be able to comply with the regs for the race.

- Body and driver/interior. Mainly the driver. The regs read like this;
"All bodies must carry a painted (at least three colors), fully-molded three-dimensional interior comprising a
driver (helmet, shoulders, and arms), a steering wheel, and cockpit representation. No paper interiors."

I only mention this in fairness to the majority of entrants who happily do the right thing, and races for fun.

Hoping that no-one takes offense here, so please read the rules, and get your cars to comply.

Thanks, and see you next round.
:)

Thanks to Steve for a thoroughly enjoyable night at Luddenham last month. I think everyone enjoyed racing in the opposite direction on SSME's challenging track.

Round 3 completed at SlotCarShed last night in Shane's new space: a lot more roomy than the old space! A good turnout for the night, with 12 racers in GT1's and 9 for Retro.
Good also to see a healthy contingent of locals in the ranks, a statement on how well club racing is doing at this facility. Results for each class (Top 5):
GT1-
1. James C. 232 laps
2. Shane 232 laps
3. Glen 231 laps
4. Darryl 229 laps
5. Brad Y. 225 laps
A close race as you can see with just 7 laps from 1st to 5th, with 1st being established on qualifying times!
Retro-
1. Shane 209 laps
2. Steph. 208 laps
3. Glen 207 laps
4. James 205 laps
5. Troy! 205 laps
An even closer result than GT1, with just 4 laps from 1st to 5th. A victory for the Slick7 retro cars (1st & 3rd), which seemed to out perform the other heavier cars in the field.
Progress pointscore on HSC website, next round at HSC July 17th.
See you there,

Rounds 4 & 5!
HSC Round 4, 17/7/12:
Not such a good turnout for this last round at HSC, with 7 for GT1 and 6 for Retro. A thoroughly enjoyable night's racing however, with Troy winning GT1 by a margin of 11 laps and Darryl posting a narrow 1 lap victory in Retro:
GT1
1. Troy 261 laps
2. Steph. 250 laps
3. Darryl 245 laps
4. James 242 laps
5. Gregg T. 237 laps
6. Scott 236 laps
7. Stewart W. 201 laps

Retro
1. Darryl 264 laps
2. Troy 263 laps
3. James 256 laps
4. Steph. 248 laps
5. Gregg T. 241 laps
6. Stewart W. 220 laps

SlotCarShed Round 5, 14/8/12
Highlight of tonight's racing was the welcome return of Mark Fox to competition, after a lengthy hiatus due to various issues. Of course, for me, it is a friendship that began some 40+ years ago at Rushcutter Bowl (and continues on at HSC!), so it is always a meaningful experience each time we race against eachother. Troy once again dominated GT1, winning by 9 laps, the margin was somewhat closer in Retro, with Troy the victor by a 1/2 lap after some major carnage towards the end of the final bracket.
GT1
1. Troy 243 laps
2. James 234 laps
3. Shane 233 laps
4. Mark 221 laps
5. Darryl 211 laps
6. Gregg T. 208 laps
7. Sean 204 laps
8. Stewart W. 189 laps

Retro
1. Troy 216 laps
2. James 216 laps
3. Shane 210 laps
4. Darryl 208 laps
5. Mark 205 laps
6. Gregg T. 201 laps
7. Stewart W. 199 laps
8. Glen 31 laps

Two rounds to go and the points are still really close! Progress pointscore may be found on the HSC Website. Next round is at Luddenham, Tuesday, September 4th.
