Re: Wing Racing at Hornsby
Have installed some of Lindsay's magnets . They are well protected by the can so shouldn't be much chance of magnets getting damaged. ( that will be a change for me !!!! )
I wounder once we get started if there are enough interested spectators wanting to get into wing cars maybe we could race G12 wing as well ????

Re: Wing Racing at Hornsby
Just to let everyone know, magnets are at Hornsby, James is selling them for $15 per pair.
First race is scheduled for June 26th and will be Grp 27 spray glue as decribed in my first post.
Max 2 motors, but one should do.

Re: Wing Racing at Hornsby
Went to Hornsby with Tony Pye to test my single magnet motor. Car seems reasonable, Hornsby has a batch of 459, 27 arms. So tried a 459 motor, seems Ok is very smooth, and is quite good in low goo.
Used the lower height of the magnets and offset installed them to crank timming.

Re: Wing Racing at Hornsby
Most of those arms have 40 degree timing !!!.you might have to get them blessed ala Team Vodaphone

Re: Wing Racing at Hornsby
Well still having a Completely assembled Thor Grp27 motor from about 20 years ago and a bunch of Other stuff lying around, I thought I would even give it a run,..but as one doesn't keep checking the damned calendar, it Woul;d have been Great to be Reminded it was actually on!!
If I had not have had to work so late and Much that week, I Would probably have finished the Plafit cars and would have turned up to race them !!

Re: Wing Racing at Hornsby
I do believe Cody was using a G27 arm that HSC are selling for $20 each .
Geared 9/39 . Thats a cheap nights racing , and the mags only cost $15
No excuses for anybody that wantes to get into wing cars.
And if we race 12's next time it will be a extra good nights racing .

So What Can and End Bell Combination are People using?
Re: Wing Racing at Hornsby
Stoo the rules are single mag motors . Any brand of setup can be used .
Re: Wing Racing at Hornsby
Was interesting how the "red" issues dissapeared, to me red was better than white to drive and not much different to the centre.
Because red was clean, the race was clean. maybe we should consider no glue for entry into the donut even in glue races.
ps, I think some of the red issues are generated by whites glue rather than reds glue.

Re: Wing Racing at Hornsby
stu,
most people are using alpha thor (early 1990's style) setups for the 365 tall x 425 long mags.
Cody did well with a 459 in an camen setup. I bought 2 x 459 arms and have converted a koford .459 setup with singles. I tested it last night it was pretty good almost flat chat around the track did 2.85 on level 3 power. 459 setups handle really-really well gearing is 9/37
You may have some stuff that will be good.
