Round 1 of the Summer series was a huge success!!!
We ended up running 5 classes and the wins were spread around.
There was some incredibly close racing. The first official "Formula 908" race was decided but less than 30cm.
And there was a SHOCK result in Retro F1 ....
Sorry,we didn't take a lot of pics, there was a lot of racing to pack into a couple of hours. But here's a pic of all the cars that took part.
We started off with FJ's:
1st - Andy (105)
2nd - Geoff (104)
3rd - Bruce (93)
TQ: Andy 5.400
105 laps is a new race total record
Next up was Retro CanAm:
1st - Geoff (125)
2nd - Andy (122)
3rd - Bruce (118)
TQ: Geoff 4.332
The first real "Formula 908" race was a ripper!!
2/100th's seperated the top 3 qualifiers!
1st - Geoff (140)
2nd - Andy (140)
3rd - Bruce (132)
TQ: Geoff 4.061
We also staged the first official "Flexi-Hawk GT" race:
1st - Geoff (146)
2nd - Andy (141)
3rd - Bruce (138)
TQ: Geoff 3.832 - This is a new outright track record for the "Williamstown
Brown"
We finished off with Retro F1.This race was an arm wrestle from the start. Everyone led at one stage or another, but in the end......... :
1st - Bruce!! (117)
2nd - Geoff (116)
3rd - Andy (115)
TQ: Geoff 4.671
The unbelievable truth!!!...
Congratulations to Bruce on his first big win on the "Brown" !!
Thanks to Dave M for marshalling.
Thanks to Timmy Tyler for his technical advice concerning Retro F1 ("Just chuck it in the bin!!!")
We also had Plafit cars and International 32's ready to run,but we just ran out of time .....
Overall, another fantastic day of racing action on the Williamstown Brown.
Plenty of thrills and spills and heaps of laughs!!!
Hope to see every one at the next round on Feb 2nd
Cheers,PJ
