Australian Nats Rotation

During the last few months there have been some discussions with the track owners to make some minor changes with the Nats rotation system.
Rather than go with the traditional state based rotation it is being changed to a track based rotation. The objective of what we are trying to achieve is to help states where there are multiple tracks per state get an equal nats rotation. With that being said we will avoid having 2 consecutive nats in the same state.
Nats Rotation – at present
2012 – NSW – Hornsby
2013 – QLD – Rockhampton
2014 – Vic – Mobile Raceway

I believe a Change would be good. Let any track the following year apply for the nats. Voting system needs to be in place not just at the nats them selves but even just a simple web pole on here would be fine.

cool
please note, Chris Osborne at Thunderbird Raceway may want a turn at hosting the nats in Adelaide again on the redline track........if it's up to it!

In anticipation of Redline wishing to host the nats,
I would be interested to see a 10 year calender to
see who gets what and when.
Happy Motoring.

I think the vote by the racers attending should remain because they are the ones that made the effort to attend and enter the race and will hopefully support the event the next year as well.

I think Lindsay's idea has some merit also.

10 Years way to long as a rotation. We should look at a year by year basis on the simple fact that raceways come and go. The only problem with a vote at the track only is some people that couldn't attend that particular Nats have no say. I'm only a slight chance of attending this year nats due to my new job. So I'll voice my opinion in here. If there are 4 tracks currently up to holding a nats then I cant see a problem with a 4 year rotation. If another track starts up give them a bit to sort things out but give them a nats as soon as possible so it gives that track a boost.

I have just thought a bit more about say my situation and i guess this applies to others as well.

There are 3 states this means you have to travel twice every three years to attend the nats. The cost of travelling and accomodation at a nats is approx $500. Therefore if there are more races not in not your home state then it will cost you more.

Guys, I was asked to do this by a number of tracks - rather than just randomly post it.

To be honest we have not had a nats meeting for a number of years, the rotation has been on a state by state basis, it is now moving to a track by track basis. It is only projected out 2 years because that is as far at present as we can go.

There are some unknowns preventing anything further:

Will Adelaide want to host 3 years out
are there other tracks we need to consider.

The purpose of track based is to remove the potential of a vic (or QLD if 2 tracks nominate) having to wait 8 years for their next turn.

When we have more tracks - we can go back to state by state.

This is the WRONG way to go about it,a couple of track owners & lindsay have a chat about the Nats rotation and just like that we change it.
