Well,..after such Great racing over the previous two days of Aussie Retro and Plafit Group C, it could Only have been expected that Sunday's racing covering the Plafit 1/32 Modern GT and 1/24th Sports GT would provide the same and I hope from the following reports, it can be seen that it Was the case !!

After a somewhat late evening and journey home, it was a rather Early start the following morning, travelling down with Cody and Kelly Bramble, but atleast with the Great Breakfast and general food provided by Kelly at "Kelly's Kitchen", certainly helped Prepare one for the days racing onslaught !! :D

As perhaps could be noted from my previous 'posts' of Our Local 1/32 Modern GT racing, concerning the quantity of Ninco Moslers being run by everyone, the presented field of cars today, was No Exception to the Rule whatsoever !!
As can be seen from the photos, the number of Moslers, has in fact Grown Even MORE !!!

Even Jimmy Patterson ended up running one, as he had some problems with his Nissan and even Garry Johnson 'Threw' one together at the track, prior to the start of racing.
JJ like myself, found his Scalextric Maserati NOT to his liking, but atleast He decided to run his Division 2 car,..so apart from the two Ford GT's and a Corvette in Division 2 I was the ONLY person NOT running a Damn Mosler in Division 1 !!! Somewhat Sad and rather Dreary really,..in some ways Highlighting the REAL lack of appropriate Choice of useful bodies in this class. Sure there ARE Heaps of bodies listed on the Homologated Body list, but as has often been discussed previously, Many of them are Not either available anymore or in Fact even suitable to fit,..let alone able to make an 'Effective' Race car from.
Compared to the Moslers, My Carrera bodied Maserati is carrying nearly 30 grams more weight, so was at a Distinct disadvantage compared to the rest of the Field! I was surely going to have My work cut out for me to do well against this 'Brigade' of Moslers !!! and although previously I had done relatively OK with it, it was Not to be the case today,..sadly!

If this class is to continue with any sort of Variance in chosen Body styles in the Future it could be argued that Only the inception of a Minimum Weight requirement, will 'Allow' a more diverse selection to be made by any racer wishing to be 'On the Pace',..but I digress,..On to the days racing.

Concours

Once again this was a Drivers choice vote and as pretty much everyone found the Number of the Same Moslers somewhat hilarious, it really became an almost Blanket choice to vote for atleast one of the Non Moslers,..lol and as Barry's Extremely Neat and Very Clean White Corvette fitted this Bill, it was an almost unanimous Vote for His entry and so he Easily Took out the Prize. Well done Barry, for atleast Not running a Mosler !! :D

We had a total of 14 entrants for this class which was really quite good, so had Two Semi's of 7 drivers in each one, with the Top Four drivers in each Semi 'Moving Up' to race in the Final.

Qualifying

Well, what can I say other than Wow, regarding the Amazing time set by Cody to easily TQ in this class, with a 'String' of qualifying laps ALL better than anyone else could manage!!
His times of 6.164, 6.181 and 6.219, were the Class of the field and realistically Only Troy got even close with a 6.321.
Jimmy and Jake also managed to do reasonable times with 6.483 and 6.484 respectively,..although I managed to do a 6.482 with My Maser, so was hoping that perhaps I might even manage a 4th place if I drove really well,..lol,..Yeah Right !!!,..rofl

Congrats to Cody on a Great time and TQ for the event !!

Semi B

Here we had Garry, John, Gregg, Rob, Troy, Barry and Myself to do battle for the four available Final spots and although I was fearing the Worst for my chances, I was quite happy with my driving, (trying Very Hard to be Fast, smooth and as consistent as I could) to try and gain a place in the final and so was quite surprised to finish where I did against this field of both great drivers and very fast cars!

Troy Pretty Much put his Stamp on this Semi from the outset, in fact Only dropping from 1st to 2nd in the 2nd bracket on Black, then managing to hold a Very convincing lead over us all for the remainder of the race. His laps were All 17's and 18's, with an astounding 20 laps on Blue in the last bracket!!

John Wiley did a commendable job keeping him relatively Honest coming a fine second, which apart from swapping into 1st in the 2nd bracket, managed to keep from then on!

Amazingly, I Did manage to do a pretty reasonable job driving wise by hanging onto 3rd and 4th at various times and eventually coming home 3rd,..and atleast providing there would be ONE Non Mosler in the Final !!,.. :D ;) ;)

Rob G managed to eventually come home in 4th after being down in 5th and 6th for most of the race, Just 'Pipping' Gary (who finished 5th), almost right at the Flag, both of them finishing on the same lap

Gregg managed to get upto 3rd at one point, but must of had a less than perfect race, as he eventually came home in 6th, with good ol' Barry Doing his best with his Division 2 Corvette coming home 7th.

Semi B standings;
1st Troy 144 laps
2nd John 139 laps
3rd Stoo 136 laps
4th RobG 130 laps

5th Garry 130 laps
6th Gregg 124 laps
7th Barry 121 laps

Semi A

Here we had James, Brad, Cody, Jimmy, JJ, Jake and Rod ? Rob! :) taking the start.

Cody showed that his qualifying 'form' was No Fluke, byt grabbing hold of 1st from the start and never looking back,..the term 'Colour me Gone' comes to mind, as he managed to turn 18's in Every bracket apart from two,..where he did 20's !!!
A very dominating performance to say the least, setting a New Track Record in the process !!,..Well done Cody.

Jimmy chased Cody as best he could and held onto 2nd race long, with James also managing to hold onto 3rd for the duration with young Jake doing a fine job against this crowd by taking the last Move up spot, only dropping to 5th in two brackets.

JJ did a rather good job with his Division 2 car managing to finish a credible 5th, with Rod following well behind him finishing 6th.

Poor Brad strted out really well and seemed to have his name printed on 4th place until an unfortunate accident seemed to put his car completely out of Kilter, causing him to turn Only 8 laps in the 5th bracket and as it was somewhat seriously deranged, he decided to withdraw, therby coming home 7th. Extremely Bad luck for Brad as his weekend had not been going so well so far, which is a shame for such a nice, friendly and generally competitive racer.

Outcome of Semi A;
1st Cody 148 laps
2nd Jimmy 142 laps
3rd James 138 laps
4th Jake 135 laps

5th JJ 130 laps
6th Rod 114 laps
7th Brad 74 laps

Final

So we had a very fast and great field of drivers in the main, being;
Troy, James, Cody, Jimmy, Jake, John, RobG and Myself.

The outcomes of the two Semis were virtually replicated in the main, with Cody Clearing Off into the distance, taking 1st and keeping a serious hold on it during the Whole race!
Troy could do Nothing about him, other than Holding down a secure 2nd place race long, with Jimmy similarly having his name engraved on 3rd, (apart from a 'Dip' to 4th briefly when on Purple).

Simialrly again, John managed to Eventually Grab 4th in the las bracket after spending the whole race in 6th and 7th, this having a lot to do with myself having an unfortunate mishap, after being taken out late in the race by an errant car T-Boning me from the other side of the track, causing a few other cars to crash as well, resulting in my losing the rear wing off my Trusty Maserati, whilst Hanging onto a possibly credible 4th at the time, (although whether I could have maintained this position to the end was somewhat questionable, as the lap totals in the Middle order were Very Close as can be seen from the results).

Having battled almost race long with James, the two of us often being on the same lap, he managed to pull ahead in the last few brackets, although I Almost Got him at the end, having gotten a lap back on him, only for us to finish Inches apart at the Line, with james Just crossing the line ahead of me,..Well Done James,..it was a Great 'Tussle' :D
RobG was always there and abouts with james and Myself and managed to finish just a lap behind in 7th, with Young Jake, being I guess Simply 'Outgunned' against this extremely talented and fast field of drivers but still put in a more than credible performance bringing up the rear in 8th.

So,..once again, a completely fantastic and suitably Tough clean and fast race worthy of a State Title event, with us once again wondering just What to do about the Cody and Troy Show !!!

Well done guys and a hearty thanks to all the entrants that made this event so enjoyable and competitive!

Thanks again must as usual go to James and Wayne for the great racing and again to Werner of ACE Hobbies for his Plafit Race prizes for the class.

Once again... great report and photo's Stoo.
Those cars look great, and go pretty well too, going by some of the times.
Thanks for taking the time to share this event with us.
