Hi all
Seems like quite a while since we last raced Retro's and although unfortunately only a small crowd appeared to race, it Was Great to get Back into the Cars!
I must admit, since my Mother's passing and my moving, I had Not done Anything to Any of my cars.
My Newer F1 was ready to go, as was my original F1, it was really only the car I had recently built for Troy, that Needed attention, although, I Did fit More Lead onto my Newer F1, as well as Troy's, which was somewhat interesting, as I had removed the Centre Brass weight, (which was .062) completely and added Lead to the area just behind the guide, under the front axle and it was quite good, Especially as it only weighed 114grams!
I had taken my newer Car to 129grams and it was definitely working Better than the Driver, 'On the Night'.
As it turned out, Troy eventually ran my Initial F1 chassis, (the car I have been using for about a Year), and certainly seemed Happy with it.
It just Needs a Fresh Motor to be the Car it Can be!
Fortunately, my usual CanAm/Coupe car was Ready to go, so having arrived at the track fairly early with Wayne, I atleast had Plenty of time to work and fettle etc!,..lol
Retro Coupes
As mentioned, only a Few turned up tonight, so we Only had 5 Starters for this Race, comprising, Darryl, Fox, Troy, Jake and Myself.
After a good start, I managed to make a complete Mockery of How to do a Good First Bracket on a Good Lane!!,..DOH !!
Took me a while to find some useful composure and Speed and basically spent the Whole race Trying to make up for My Own unforced errors!
Unfortunately, at the time of writing this, I really Don't know the Exact Race order, apart from Knowing that I chased Darryl down in the last two brackets for 3rd and JUST 'Pipped' Him virtually Right at the Very end of the Last bracket! It was actually quite a fun race, with some Very Good driving by everyone!
Jake is becoming Both Faster and more consistent and won't be long before Jake will actually be quite a Threat !!
So whilst Not having the Lap Total, somehow, I think Troy may have Won on the Night, with Mark 2nd, myself 3rd, Darryl 4th and Jake 5th. (will edit accordingly, when I know the details.
Retro F1
Well, whilst there was Only 4 of us for this F1 race, it Really was Quite a Hoot of a Race!
Very Clean and Extremely Fast and once again, for myself, the car was the Better of the 2 Halves early on and I had to get down to some Serious Motoring towards the end, which, happily and satisfyingly, I managed to do and fought my way up to the Front and took 1st and the Win in the Last Bracket, from Troy, (running my original car) and Jake!, doing a very fine job and driving very well taking 3rd, with Maek Fox, having for Him, a disastrous evening, although from his laughter, he still seemed to be having fun! I think Mark experienced Serious Controller/Brake problems and was running Slowly, until he could swap to another controller at the end of the bracket.
I must say, I was quite happy how My car ran, with the added ballast and Troy seemed to enjoy my older car, plus after having some 'difficulties' with my driving earlier, coming Home for the Win, with a 35 was also Great Fun !!
F1 lap totals and some pics of the evening below;
I must say as well, that even with such a small crowd, the driving Quality was Excellent and I feel everyone running actually had a real 'Blast', as it sure Was Fun, Friendly and FAST Racing !!
See ya all Next time !!
