Was reading the Mobile Forum and noticed that Dave Napps got a time of .401 at the drag Nats last weekend, which seems pretty damn fast to me.

Does anyone know what the world record is???

WHOOPS!!

After more research it appears as though Dave Napps in fact holds the world record of 0.401 and he was not at Mobile Raceways on the weekend.

way to drag an issue.....! :)

the Australian record is contencious.
Depends on which association/group you look at (much like the many 1:1 associations in the states, or the lack of association for 1:24 in the states).

The quickest standing 55ft, by any measure (discounting something shot from a gun or bow), in Australia is Craig Brittain's .452 at Xtreme raceway in Perth.
They had run a .45 on Redlines strip in the mid to early 90's too. I'm sure other quick passes may have been recorded in this period.

The record on the WSMCR strip (the old Ingleburn raceway) was .48 or .47, on a controlled 16.0-16.5 volts. The Mobile raceways strip is under similar restrictions.

Do you know what motor Napp used Geoff?
I heard that his track has two lengths of 00 gauge as slave cable for each lane, with taps every 3ft-4ft!
I don't know the specs on the WSMCR or MR strips but in Perth we ran 2 lengths on 4 gauge (about the thickness of your thumb) per lane, with taps every 6ft.
