Well,..Valentines Day certainly provided us with a Massacre !

Especially with regard to Numbers,..but also provided us with Quite a Ripper of a Race !!

It was a Rather Quiet evening at HSC, with Only 9 Starters in Total !!,..two of Whom, were Virtual "walk up Starts" Guy and Declan Russell, as they Just Happened to be at the Track and were Keen to Have a Run and as the Atmosphere was (as it always seems to be with the Retros), quite cordial, a couple of 'Loaners' were found.

Finding a Good setup was a bit 'tricky' in the conditions, as conditions were Very different from Out Practice during the week and one could Only suggest we 'Experienced' a 'Variety' of Track conditions Just Prior to The Event !!,.. ;) ;) Thanks Cody !!,..Just 'Adjusting the Condition to suit Your Car were We ???,..ROFL,.,. ;) ;) :D :D

I had already decided to run an Older 'Used' motor, Which was running Well,..Not as Quick as Cody, but Close,..so 'Competitive',..but alas whilst doing a bit of Tyre testing, I 'Bopped' a Wheel onto the Bearing and Bound it up and the Motor Slowed and Stopped,..Not Smelling to Good and Hot !!,..DOH !!,..(Strangely at Home on the PSU after the Race, it seems Fine!) So I had to change to the Only Other Motor I had a Pinion on ,..and It was Not that Great,..Oh Well.

Bevan as well, was having 'Issues' with His car and wasn't going to run,..but I convinced him to Run My "Old Faithful" and after doinfg a few laps decided to run,..(Heck he even Beat me with it !!,..lol).
So,....
We ran Two Heats and a Main, with No Qualifying.

The First Heat was a Pretty good race, with Hutcho and Ivan 'Duking' it out for virtually the Whole Heat with Ivan eventually taking the Heat Win with 161 laps, Hutch 2nd with 157 and ,.. Young Declan Making the Move Up to the Main, with138 !!,..Well Done !!

The second Heat was a Tough affair, with a Damn good field of drivers all hoping for one of the 3 move ups.
I chose to do the Purple rotation, (which has often worked well), but alas Not tonite,..

It Proved to be a Portent of what would Occur in the Main, with Cody, Troy Boldy and Mark Fox all finishing 1,2,3...as they would in the Main, with 178, 176 and 172 laps respectively,..Great totals and some great racing.
Bevan was Looking Good for 3rd for quite a While, until an unfortunate accident broke a solder joint on one of the Outriggers on My Old Car and on Black and Purple, he dropped to 4th with 169 and myself, having a dismall evening, 5th with 166,..sigh,..lol

The Main was actually a Great Race, with Cody, (who had a Very Quick Car on the Nite), Troy and Mark Really having a Great Race Long Duel to Take the Podium spots,..Excellent Racing Guys I think Troy deslotted Twice during the Whole Race !! and the driving standard by All was similar,..Very Little Marshalling tonite !!!

Cody Bramble 266
Troy Boldy 265
Mark Fox 258
Ivan Levanic 235
Steve Hutchesson 230
Declan Russel 107

So all in all,..Another Great Nites racing,..with Another couple of Old and Young Newcomers Having a Ball, Hutcho Happy,..as He Has atlast Made the Main,..and drove damn well really, but had a Wheel problem late in the race. Young Declan had issues with his car in the 5th bracket and chose not to continue, a Shame, but I think he and his Dad enjoyed themselves.

The driving standard at the ADC was Very High and tonite in 'tricky' conditions also provided Very High Lap totals,..so The Standard is getting pretty High, to the Point where almost Any deslots can drop you a place !!

This is Getting Tough !!,..lol

Could be a Great Season !

Hope to see Ya all at the Next round.
:D

Funny how the 3 podium cars have the motor running backwards. This really is quite mysterious.

Ha Ha,..Yes,..There Does seem to be a school that Runs them That way,.. :D

Interestingly, if you check Mabuchi's Website for the appropriate FK series motors,..it Does show their Rotation in That Direction,..BUT,..

I Kinda think it somewhat Odd,..that Plafit would Have a Motor Nade Specifically for Their Own Cars and in all Instances,..Run the Motors Opposite to What was run on the Cars above.

I guess one Could argue that the Motors Run the same Both Ways,..But due to the Style of Brush Gear,..The Timing Will change ever so slightly over time with Wear,..so Just Which way is the Most desirable Direction of Rotation??

So Far, I have run all My CheetahII motors the same direction PlaFit run theirs.

Gonna Have to Pull one of these suckers apart one day and Have a Look see.

:D :D
