New track at Narangba

The track below is owned by Andrew Bartholomew of Narangba, Qld. He hopes to have it running by the end of the month.

The track is made from CNC routed sections to a design created by Andrew and transfered to CAD by yours truly for cutting.

To give some scale to it the shed is 9 metres long and the lane length is 93.76 feet. It'll be fast but not easy and I can't wait to try it.

Very nice.

What lane spacing is it?

Looks like a fast challenging track.

Hi Steve,

Lane spacing is a huge 125mm. I'm not sure why he wanted this but that's what it is.

Just got back from another working bee at the track.

It's all painted and braided, Kim Axton was putting fences on with the help of Norm and Paul while Andrew and I wired it up.

Stu Burrows will have the computer system ready soon.

Just a bit of fencing to go (ran out of timber tonight) and a few bits and pieces then we can have some fun.

Hi Steve,

Stu Burrows does a nice system for the style of racing we do here. It runs under Windows and seems to be very stable although sometimes subject to the very minor timing quirks of Windows.

For our racing we run each lane as a separate race where we start each lane on the start line and take footage at the end of each lane. Stu's system adds up all the numbers and gives a nice printout with lots of information including best times and laps for each lane.

OK, thanks.

I wish we had a PC version of the old 'Johnson' system.

Some more pictures from Andrew.

Still a few bits to tidy up but it looks like it's ready to go.

The sides are padded with some sort of dense foam.
