2025 Geoghegan Trophy Race

Post by Mark Fox »

Hi All,
It's that time again when racers from around Australia battle it out at SEAGULLS Raceway for this trophy.

A Potted History.

The Geoghegan Trophy Race has been held nearly every year since 1970.
The initial format was for Group 7 (open) Sedans but over the years many different classes have been raced including Retro CanAm and Wing Car 27's. At Seagulls for the past 4 years five classes are raced over the weekend with the best three results scored for the trophy win.

Friday

After a day of open practice it was time to start the proceedings

Plafit Historic
A popular class run every week at Seagulls this attracted 18 entries with 12 0f these being out of towners.
The 18 entries formed three Mains of six.

Sedan Flexis

This was an interesting race as it was in essence two races in one with both tin can motors (Cheetah IV) and brushless 3000KV motors (Parma being the motor of choice by most if not all racers) running together. Points were awarded to both variants.
We had 24 entries so four mains of six this time.

So now my formula for the rest of the evening is -
Dinner at the bistro downstairs,
Some LMP and GTP tuning.
Off home to the beer fridge.

Summary

Another great Seagulls' event and a big thanks to Kim and all the guys that pitch in to make this event possible and also to the many racers who travel to join the fray.

Some excellent racing and some close results but Cody most def iced it over the 3 days - congratulations to him.
