WOW !!!!
What an Absolutely Fantastic evenings Racing we had this Saturday Night !!
I Mean REALLY !!
I would Have to say, that for Both the CanAm and 'Especially' the F1's,..it would have to be close to the Cleanest, Closest, (perhaps Not the Fastest), but Pretty Damn close to one of the Most enjoyable Slot Car races I have had ,..or perhaps can Remember !!,..
Sure,..there Are those guys, that will Always Do well, who Drive exceptionally well etc, etc,..Sometimes I am one of them !!,..Unfortunately NOT Always !!,.. ,..but I digress,..This evenings Racing, was Courteous, FUN, Sensible, Very Clean, FUN, enjoyable, Close,..Did I mention Fun ???,..lol
Anyway, Look, I Guess what I am getting at, is Not Only do we have the guys who always do well, but we Now have a few More New faces, a few of which seem to be making this Retro racing a bit of a 'Habit' !!,..which is GREAT,..Plus, they are Doing really well, ...in Fact getting Better every Race,..which,..will probably start to make it even Harder for this Old Bugger !!,..ROFL
So for Myself, and I am Sure From Each and to All, a Hearty 'Congrats' is due to All that ran tonight and Especially to Our 'Brave' F1 travellers to Parts previously Unknown !!,..
Although Not a Huge field by any stretch of the imagination, Once again it is becoming an extremely competitive and Quality bunch of 'Dudes' turning up of late, whose Racing and Company is enjoyable ! Great Stuff.
I Know I speak for ALL when I say We ALL had a Great Night,..there were many 'Leaders' at various stages,..BUT, Tonight,..it was,..pretty much the Mark Fox 'Show' !!,.. 
Having raced for many years on and off with Mark, since our Teens, this IS a situation I am Only Too 'Familiar' with !!,..lol,..I have So Many 2nd and 3rd Trophies from the Past,..where I Just KNOW, Mark has ANY of the Ones Above whatever I have for that Round !!,..
What can I say,..Well Done mate nothing like a 'Clean Sweep' !!
So,..finished with the 'Pre-amble',..Onto the Racing !
This evening, Along with the Continuing CanAm rounds, we had Our 'Innaugural' "Aussie Retro" F1 race and whilst we were All Probably expecting Mayhem, Carnage and destruction, Due to the 4" lane spacing on the "Johnson" 110 Road Track we run on at HSC, but Proved to be a Fantastic race !!,..(more on that later),...
For CanAm, we had Ten starters, so as usual, we had Qualifying, 2 x Semi's and a Main, with the Top 3 in each Semi moving to the Main.
Qualifying;
Heck,..ALL the Times were Close, but initially, James Colfax set a Great time on the evening, of 5.08, with only a few of us left to do a time, Fox being one of them.
So after all us other Mere Mortals had done our best, Fox, just manages a 5.06 !!!,..(I Wish I Knew How he Always seems to do that !!,..lol),..Well Dome Mark, James, Great times on the Night !!

Bill 5.71 A time I might say did Not reflect the cars Potential, from another 'relative' retro necomer,..but Bill like some of us, Is a racer from the past and being another 'BUILDER', Hurrah !!,..lol..He was Probably still in 'Building Mode',..lol, having 'assembled a number of JK and Slick 7 kits for various other racers.
SEMI 1;
Well,..once again,..as seems to be becoming the Norm for me of Late,..lol, I managed to Jump away at the start and to be Honest had one of those Semi's, when you can Honestly 'Count' your De-slots and thankfully, I'd Only Need one hand !!,..rofl,..BUT,..it was Not a walk in the Park,..as it was a Very Clean Race with some great dicing going on Race long, for All of the positions, James being a Constant 'threat' and an Ever improving Rob, taking the 3 move-up's. Well done to both Brad and Markus for some good driving. It was a pretty good race.
Unfortunately, as the PC that records and prints the Race outputs is visiting 'la la land', I don't have complete Lap total details, apart from;

SEMI 2;
Well,..here once again, Mark 'hinted' at his imminent Domination of the evening, by taking 1st, with 170 laps, although he Was being caught and it Was close, in fact for all the move ups it was a tussle.
Troy Boldy was slowly but surely Closing in and followed Mark home, with Bill managing to take the final move up slot over Jacco and Darryl, both also driving Extremely well,..in Fact this Semi was unbelievably 'Clean',..great driving guys !!

What can I say?,..a Great and Extremely enjoyable Race, and That from someone who Was in the lead at the start and ONLY,..lol, managed 4th !!
Once again, perfect Semi, less than perfect main,..sigh,..Oh well,..as I said it was Great and heaps of Fun,..
I think we ALL had Many, many brackets of very Clean Fast Side by side racing, with Very litlle de-slotting !,..in fact it was very enjoyable racing,..which as one could expect, was also very Close, with positions changing race long, although here, Mark Did manage to really put one on us, as his lap totals will show.
I had a Great race apart from a few 'Extra' errors than I made in my Semi,..Doh!,..but as I usually Never look at the lap Charts during my race, I Unfortunately Noticed Just HOW Close it was, and how 2nd Place was Looking Good,..Doh,..stupid thing to do,..I then started 'Chasing' James to get 2nd back and was in fact Just Pipped into 3rd by Troy, all laps lost in the last 2 brackets!!,..(Note to self,..avoid looking at lap charts during racing!,..lol),..But Hey, We All had Fantastically Close and Extremely enjoyable racing in the Main, I don't think it mattered where you finished,..it was FUN !!!
So, the Final outcome?

Firstly THANKS for those that Don't race But Do marshall and Congrats on some Damn Fine Marshalling as well,..All night the Clean racing was Helped by Quick and efficient marshalling,..Once again thanks to all
So,....Onto the F1's !!
Now here, I think perhaps we were All expecting the Worst, what with Wide cars with Exposed tyres etc, but, as may In say I Thoroughly enjoyed the Racing, in fact,..it was GREAT !! Probably Even Better than any of us expected, it was very Close, Extremely Clean and very enjoyable racing.
A total of 7 starters, it could have been 8 if there was just One Extra marshall, as the very Noisy Kids Party happening on the Big track had Finally finished up and gone home and Wayne could have raced his apparent 'Bullet' of an F1.
A Great Field anyway for the First F1 race and What a Great race it was Too !!
Qualifying;
Once again, Mark Fox managed to Stamp his 'Authority' with his New F1 as well.

James 5.30 a great time until Mark hit the track
Rob Very Close and a Great time, with 5.30 as well
Troy also very close with 5.30 to
Bill with 5.30
Stoo not showing a great Qual time with 5.59 with
Brad doing a fine 5.61
This was shaping up to be a Very close race!
The F1 RACE;
So,..even though I didn't do a great time in Qual, I Knew the car Was very Good from practice earlier and managed to bang off at the start into the lead !! and was running really well.
Personally, I was pretty happy with my driving tonight. I have had some less than perfect results from silly poor driving of late (out of practice, or getting Old !!,..lol), so it was good to be 'On the Case' tonight !!,..lol
This was as I keep saying a really, Really Good race,..so Much Fun and so Much fast and Close Dicing amongst All of us, with Much laughter and smiles all round race long !!
I can't tell you Much More, other than to tell you the Placings were changing race long until the last bracket pretty much
Congrats to all the Brave souls who managed to Build / buy and prepare an F1 to race tonight I'm pretty sure we could all argue about Who had the Most Fun !!

1st Mark Fox 251 laps. Well Done Mark, A very Fine drive !!
2nd Troy Boldy 248 laps. A great drive, Troy was tussling with James and myself along with Mark race long.
3rd Stewart Amos 245 laps. Made too many mistakes, should have been closer,...or 2nd !!,..lol Very happy!
4th James Colfax 245 laps. A very Close fought thing it was as well,..
5th Rob 227 laps. Obviously also having a great tussle with Bill
6th Bill 227 laps. Well done guys
7th Brad 211 laps. Sorry Brad, someone has to be last I Hope you enjoyed the evening anyway. Well done.
So, that was the First "Aussie Retro" F1 race,..if that was an example of the kind of racing we can look forward to with these cars,..then,..Bring it On,..What Great FUN !!

Wayne's car looked pretty good and there was an even 'spattering' of both JK and Slick7 kits, both seemingly to go extremely well. Troy in fact placing 2nd with His Slick7. (atleast he was surrounded by Scratchbuilts!!),..
