Personally I don't believe that is good practice !!
Especially with Modified Motors (Shaft replaced etc), or when not running with a 'Retaining' circlip etc.
Whilst it may seem like the Magnets will keep things Aligned, in reality, it will Not, especially when running as an anglewinder but also as a sidewinder.
There is movement, driven by the gears and causes axial movement of the motor shaft !!

A standard Thin Armature spacer can be used against the bearing face to reduce Wear and Friction.
