EDIT: (by stoo)
It should be Noted that this was the First Open Wing car race with one of the competitors were running a Brushless Setup.
Qld Mick drove Rod McGuiness's DoSlot equipped car and was running strongly in 2nd and 3rd spot until he had issues around the 6th bracket I believe.
Whilst they were keeping an eye on the Motor temp' it was the ESC (speed controller) that was getting hot, with the motor wires eventually Melting off.
Having spoken with Rod, it seems the ESC was damaged, but as Kim Axton suggested as this was a 2MO race and the ESC being an integral part of the Motor 'combo', had they changed the ESC half way through the race, it may have provided a far better outcome than not finishing, perhaps even a podium
The car ran a DoSlot ESC, a DoSlot 11,000kv 1105 motor and 8:40 gearing.
