Hi All
The ever popular SRC Series kicked off for 2019 at SSME on 23 April and attracted good fields of 12 for Retro CanAm and 14 for GT1.
CanAm
A wide variety of chassis styles here with a good mix of "kit" and totally scratch-built cars.
The 12 entries went into 2 races of 6 apiece.
Race 1
Well the previous race here was a 4 hour enduro and just demonstrating how much actual race experiance will translate into results is shown by the 1,2,3 finish of the local drivers who participated in that race.
Kenny led all the way from the 2nd bracket after a great start by Jason B who was ultimately run down by Jason Mc and Andrew .
Neil was struggling with a car that was a bit off the pace while Stevo had virtually nothing but trouble.
Race 2
A very assertive all the way win for Darryl followed all the way by Wayne W and Troy while Mark, Wayne B and Gregg had a close battle at the bottom of the placings.
CanAm Washup
A very happy Kenny takes the win and set fastest lap in doing so. He was followed by Darryl and Jason Mc for the local boys to take out 1st and 3rd for SSME.
GT1
Fourteen entries translated into 2 round robin races of 7 each
Race 1
With round robin events there is no idea really as to what is happening until the end so cutting to the chase - Richard blitzed the fied to win by a whopping 15 laps over Wayne W and Jason Mc again having a good run to finish 3rd.
Both Neil and Jason B were dnf for this event both retiring in their 2nd bracket - these cars are quick but bend well also.
Race 2
Well Kenny showed his CanAm result was no fluke by finishing a lap up on Darryl and well over 3rd placed Troy 9 laps behind. Wayne W was also going well and just managed to pip Trev whose car was ballistic quick.
GT1 Washup
King Richard held off Kenny by 2 with Darryl a further lap down in 3rd.
Trev was ballistic quick and set fast time of 3.766!! and was almost under 4 secs on all lanes except for the 4.000 he did on Purple.
So ended another great night of racing at SSME - thanks to Ron for the beautiful clean track and for organising the BBQ.
