Hi All,
Nine starters arrived for the HSC Club Series #7 for Coupe and F1 race on the Short Track on Saturday 4th August. This race was always going to be a warmly contested event being scheduled a week before the Retro Nats for CanAm and F1 the following week on the same track.
Coupes
Race 1
Cody comfortably led all the way followed by Dad who just pipped Troy for 3rd by a lap 7 laps adrift of Cody. Stevo circulated well but was off the pace of the others.
A good win from Cody but only a modest total of 174 – 10 laps off his previous outing at the SRC round. Race 2
All the way win for me here followed by Brad and Darryl who finished on the same lap with Brad having 1.8 seconds on Darryl crossing the line.
Stoo and Neil slugged it out down the field with Neil taking home the bacon over Stoo; only 4 laps adrift of Race 1 winner Cody.
Wash-up
Good win and total for me with Brad and Darryl showing great form also. Cody was off his best as was Stoo, Wayne and Troy whilst Neil had a Bolt(er) to finish over them comfortably. Stevo was racing really well also and improves with every outing.
Fastest time of the night from Cody but only 0.001 sec over my best for the night. F1
Well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cody just smashed it setting a new laps record for F1 of 189 – 10 laps over my old mark of 179.
In the process he did 4.764 on Red, 4.765 on White and a 4.800 on Green. He clocked under the 5 sec mark on 5 of the 8 lanes.
My old mark of 4.98 was obliterated as was the old CanAm mark of 4.77 held jointly by Cody and myself set over 6 years ago.
Troy pipped Wayne by a lap whilst Stevo had a great run to be only 5 behind Wayne and 15 laps up on his Coupe effort.
Race 2
There was no way any of us could match Mr Kaos’s effort but we were determined not to go down with a whimper and so at the pointy end Stoo and I battled it out only for us both to equal the previous benchmark of 179 with me just pipping Stoo by 0.67 sec.
Darryl was in the hunt but suffered from only an average run on Purple and Black to be a couple of laps adrift which he then chased for most of the race.
Brad also suffered a bit down the Black end of the track to pull up behind Darryl while Neil unfortunately just suffered with the front end of his car coming detached from the proceedings.
Wash-up
First some background.
The following exchange took place relating to Cody’s CanAm effort in the previous SRC round where he scored a fast 184 laps.

Once he learns to slow down he will do 190 laps

That would be some effort - assuming getting across the line for a 'Bell' Lap - the remaining 189 laps equates to an average across ALL lanes of 5.08 sec a lap!
And so after smashing every Retro record in sight with a F1!

Cody cruising round doing 4.7's and 4.8's with a retro F1 was a sight to see.
If only I marshaled his car a little quicker when he eventually did come off, he would have gotten 190 instead of only 189. Sorry.

If he had not of come off he would have got 192 - he came off twice at the end of the straight in his last bracket where I was marshalling and it wasn't the only time.
That was why it was so amazing - the car and Cody were so fast but he had quite a few driver errors - that happens when you push to the edge - sometimes you go over.
It was a great effort as I said it would have to be - however the 190 target still beckons
Well as you can imagine the track was in immaculate condition – Thanks again James.
