Five Teams assembled for the first 2018 4 Hour Enduro for Retro CanAm at SSME on a crisp Sunday morning accompanied by the smell of the BBQ going to feed the masses. Slot racing with sausages and eggs on demand – heaven.
Last year’s winners Ric’s Raiders (Steve and Kevin) were setting fast times in practice and were obviously going to be hard to beat. Fastuff (Fox & Stoo) were also setting some good times and we were out to do the business after being humbled into 2nd spot at last year’s event. Shake & Bake (Casey and Wayne), Fig Jam (Ron & Peter) and Desperados (Neil, Shalin and Darryl) were new team configurations.
So off we go – the short story is that Ric’s Raiders just blasted everybody into the weeds – it was like Phar Lap vs Donkeys and needless to say they led all the way to win by 142 laps over Fastuff, then 128 laps to Shake & Bake, then 7 laps to Fig Jam and then 83 laps to Desperados.
I know that most teams had their issues including Shake & Bake doing a motor change and Fastuff suffering a slowing motor in the last 2 brackets but the dominance of the winners was absolute.
The 3rd, 4th and 5th placed teams had a ball fighting it out and Shake & Bake won this quite epic battle to come back from 5th after a failing motor was changed to take out the 3rd spot. Fig Jam just kept on going to take out 4th while Desperados were unlucky to hit trouble on White in the 4th to knock them out of the podium battle.

Team Analysis
I took photos of the lap board at the 20 minute driver change over so was then able to compile the following data for each team.
I know that in most cases the two driver teams hit out in the same order for each bracket but in the case of Desperados I can make no conclusions as far as which driver did what laps etc but for the 2 man teams we can see which driver did the most laps and best time for their 20 minutes.
AND THE WINNER IS – Kevin with most laps and fastest time on ALL lanes.
Ric’s Raiders 2017 and 2018
This set of data shows just how hard it will to beat these guys and the improvement they made over last year’s sterling effort where they got over 500 laps in a bracket only once (502) as opposed to this year where they failed to do so only once!
Neil had a secret weapon but I, in capacity of Scrutineer, said NO WINGS ALLOWED

I submit my apologies for taking so long to get this report up but having been spanked so hard by Ric's Raiders I have only just now been able to sit down

Thanks as always to SSME and Ron for sorting out and hosting the event.
