Hi All
The Australia Day Classic held on Saturday 27th January saw the 2018 race calendar kick off for Retro Racing – CanAms on the Short Track at HSC.
We had only five starters ready to shake off the annual break cobwebs including Brad who we had not seen for a while.
The track was in great shape as always thanks to James once again.
Neil was awarded ‘Concours d’Elegance’ with a nice sample of his usual top class presentation,
Qualifying
Fast time by moi - just breaking into the 4's.
Racing
I had fairly comfortable run to lead all the way and finish 9 laps up on Darryl and Brad.
Darryl and Brad had a good battle for the minor podium spot however and although Darryl was in 2nd and Brad in 3rd all the way. Brad had shaken the dust off his driving and his tires came good toward the end of the race and he managed to claw back a 3 lap deficit in the last 2 brackets to finish less than a second behind Darryl - welcome back Brad.
Stoo and Neil completed the 'all the way' process by holding down 4th and 5th respectively.
Podium Cars
Presentations
James hands out the trophys.
A big thanks to the volunteer marshals Greg and Stefan who along with James ensured that we did not have to run 2 heats of this event in order to have marshals - that would have been quite sad - thanks again guys.
Remember Round #1 of the CanAm and F1 series is on this coming Saturday 3rd Feb on the Short Track - Track on for practice at 5:30 and racing starts at 6:00.
See you there.
