Hi All

Well a great nights racing was ensured with 14 GT1 entries and 15 Retro CanAm entries rocking up on a cold night to battle it out in the 3rd round of the increasingly popular Tuesday night SRC series.

GT1

Two races and in Race 1 Casey on 178 was never headed to finish well ahead of nearest challengers Stoo (167) and Mark (165) who just pipped Daryl (164) who just pipped Wayne (163) who pipped Steve (160) whilst Bill was a little off the pace to finish 7th.

Race 2 saw Joe out-gun Gregg on 176 to 171 and then the rest of the field well spread out behind Gregg. Brad chucked it in as a protest to the Gods of slow motors.

As you can see from the race sheets Casey shot the lights out with fast times on all lanes and the overall win.

There was some close racing in the middle of the pack.

It was Stoo and Darryl (back from his annual pilgrimage to the USofA) neck and neck the whole time.

This was a pretty rough race with plenty of track calls and on the last track-call (on the Bell Lap no less) Stoo was about 2 metres in front of Darryl and only had to negotiate the esses and the lead-on to the straight to take the flag. He says “Wow can I make it without someone hitting me before Darryl overtakes me” – alas he could not – wiped out after 1 second of power back on and; yep, Darryl wins.

Steve and Casey had improved runs in 3rd and 4th as they start to get to grips with this very trick track.

It was really great to see a return of the SSME racers in Ron, Wayne and Ando (aka Gatecrashers – for some reason that escapes me).

Some very close racing also with Gregg and myself battling for the lead whilst Paul and Brad were close enough at all times to keep a bit of pressure on together with Steve also going quick.

Brad really came home fast and set the fastest times on his last 5 brackets including the ‘Pink Highlight’ award for fast lap of the day on Green. During this run he clawed back 3rd from Paul who finished less than a tenth of a second behind – close racing with Steve only 2 laps back.

Bill drove a good race whilst Neil felt he had not performed to his potential this time around.

Thanks Mark
Another great turn out.
Encouraging the SSME gentlemen- it takes a while to come to grips with the SRT.
