2016 Australia Day Classic (ADC)

Well the 2016 Retro season kicked off with the ADC. The race was accompanied by the sound of screaming motors and the yells of Track, Track, Track,Put it on, Rider, Stop etc. This was of course the racket from the Wing 12 Racers on the other track which was totally deafening.
The Retro race saw 8 participants which was a little down but was affected by the holiday season, work commitments and some racers screaming around with wing 12's.
Qualifying
Only one time below 5 secs - hard to qualify with all the racket of the 12's. With 8 racers it was to be 2 heats of 3 min brackets to settle the outcome.
Final A
L-R
Andrew, Charles, Lindsay and Darryl L-R
Charles and Andrew L-R
Darryl and Lindsay Darryl led all the way with Charles 2nd all the way followed by Lindsay 3rd all the way and Andrew 4th all the way. Charles did put some pressure on through the race and at the end when he posted 35 laps on Blue to only finish down by a lap - not bad as I think the last race he was in was at last years ADC and we all know that Darryl is hard to beat as he rarely makes a mistake. Final B
L-R
Mark, Brad, Steve and Neil L-R
Mark and Brad L-R
Neil and Steve (with a 'loaner' from Darryl) Well this race was a real tussle from start to finish - at the half way mark we had Steve leading (welcome back mate after a long lay-off) on 129, Mark 2nd on 129 and Brad 3rd on 129 whilst Darryl from the 1st round was on - guess - 129!
At this point both Brad and I had cleared Purple and Black lanes whilst Darryl and Steve had not so all things being equal it was going to be another shoot out between Mark and Brad.
Going into the last bracket Brad led by about 1/2 a lap and our cars were virtually absolutely equal. I knew I had to take risks to catch Brad as he was not going to bottle it whilst in front - no good - de-slots result - Brad wins by a lap. Brad 264
Mark 263
Darryl 260
Charles 259
Steve 254
Lindsay 244
Andrew 215
Neil 190
Brads Winning Smile (and Car) Mark - 2nd Darryl - 3rd (his secret weapon is gum) The Fastest car on the Track
Well I tell you no lies - if Charles was a little more 'race hardened' he would have perhaps wiped the floor with us. His car was an absolute jet setting fastest time on all lanes except Green (where I managed to pip him while going as hard as I could in the last bracket trying to catch Brad).
Check these times! Here's the car
Charles has been using it for a while now. Check out the outer 'Rail' consisting of 1 piece of wire with 8 bends - all perfect and level. Those who know my building
philosophy will be aware that I try to design so that I have only 1 bend per piece of wire - 2 if I can't avoid it.
This is truly a build by a master of wire and solder.
