Gee Hutch,..May I say I am sort of surprised Really by your displeasure re the conditions the other night.

I had Not thought from chatting on our way home that you were THAT upset,...

For myself, having had a pleasant yet competitive Semi, I was in a Great Mood for the Final and Started out driving well, until i 'Lost it' and descended into the Mire of Over Driving the Conditions.

As I was there earlier, just after the spray goo had been made and applied, it was rather Silly watching How Stuck! AND how Slowly James' F1 car went around,..I mean it was almost coming to a Dead stop in the Turns, and was lapping slower than a Scalextric !!

Upon noticing Just How 'Stuck' the Track was,..apologies were made and an attempt was made to prepare the track with Less Viscious Grip applied.

Having Never Made a Batch of Spray goo, BUT Knowing what goo is made of and How it is made, I would suggest, making up a batch would almost be Nore of an art than a Science and May Vary slightly Mix from Mix,..Heck we can all make Mistakes as well,...Stuff Happens.

When the surface was reapplied, I must admit, it was perhaps a slightly Less 'Stuck' condition than we have had at Other times,..but IMHO, it Was 'Manageable' and I like Others also tried Both of the cars I had Ready which had different Tyres.

Initially, I was going to use my Old Car,..but,..Unlike almost everyone else, who spent the Next Hour running Consistently on all the Lanes, with as I feared and commented on,..if everyone kept dpoing that then there Might be a lot less traction by the time of the Main. Which may very well have been the Case,..BUT, there Was Opportunity to have Said or Done something about it on the Night.
I Do recall Wayne actually asking the drivers whether they were Happy with the condition.

I tried different cars and different Tyres anfd ended up using My Newer Car, which seems pretty good anyway and was Certainly Quicker in the conditions Just Prior to the Start of racing, I just ran before and after everyone else,..No need to Slog around for ages, I had found out what I wanted to Know and even Wayne commented on which car Was Faster.

For nyself, I really had No 'Issues' with the other night, that I could in Any way level at anything other than my Own Bad driving and that of others, doing as you Noted, Over Driving the Conditions.

As far as I am concerned, That IS OK, Having slightl;y different conditions, is just like Real Racing, You Don't always run the same tyres and sometimes it is Vastly different from Hot to Cold Days.

Gee I remember when Goo was Rampant and People Made their Own concoctions,..What a Mess the Track and conditions could be Then !!!
To be Honest, if it was always exactly the same, then it could get boring and Yes, whilst I can agree that these cars are Fun to drive and Damn fast when Stuck,...they are also Challenging to drive Well, when Less Stuck.

Overall, the Racing last weekend, whilst at times a bit Scrappy, was Very Fast, competitive and pretty close!
I was frustrated towards the end with my Own driving and how messy it had been, but it was still relatively close and was a good race with some Great Lap totals being turned in by Everyone, let alone those done by Cody and Troy !!

So it couldn't have been a complete Disaster for everyone, plus both Troy and Cody have pretty well creamed us all whenever they run and whilst Cody has done it with a couple of different chassis, Troy I believe has done it with the Same chassis.

Since running these cars at HSC, I have run cars in races with three types of tyre, for various reasons, I don't Expect conditions 'On the Day' to Match Practice, as so much can change and be different.

As well, I am pretty sure the reason the numbers are down has to do with 'Other Factors', Not the State or Condition of the Track !!

Just my Two Cents Worth!,. :D

Oh and I agree,..I think Wayne WAS SHOUTING !!,..lol

Stooo,

Read my new post in a seperate topic, saves me retyping it. I differ from others who have ended up pissed off in that I will say why. The whole idea of retro racing is to avoid the complexities of picking tires for tracks, thats what spray goo is about, making the traction conditions the same for everyone. I know how to do it within reason as I have enough tires to do it but its not within the design of the class, its a leftover from the bad old days where you had to know every lurk and perk to get a car going.

Had you marshalled for the final you would have seen more of the prangs from cars flying off the track, bashing into each other and the general carnage that occurred. I am lucky the semi split put me out even though I did more laps than 2 of the finalists, at least I did not get another car smashed up driving under skidpan conditions.

I spent Wednesday afternoon practicing at HSC and among the practice was some fast practice with Fox, James and OZP so its not as if there is no lack of knowledge of the conditions. I am of the view the OZP got it right the first time when he prepped the track and should not have listened to a few when other people had no contribution and had to suffer appalling conditions. I remember the conditions of the nationals last year and build cars for those conditions and this is what I expect, some form of consistency in what you find on race day.
