Pinion Spacers for Brushless motors

Post by stoo23 »

I have noticed a few people running their Brushless motors without a Spacer between the Pinion and the Bearing.

Personally I don't believe that is good practice !!
Especially with Modified Motors (Shaft replaced etc), or when not running with a 'Retaining' circlip etc.
Whilst it may seem like the Magnets will keep things Aligned, in reality, it will Not, especially when running as an anglewinder but also as a sidewinder.
There is movement, driven by the gears and causes axial movement of the motor shaft !!

Fortunately, Plafit comes to the Rescue ;) :) as they have a Range of very nicely made 2mm Steel Spacers available in Packs of 100; 1.6, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 & 5.0mm

A standard Thin Armature spacer can be used against the bearing face to reduce Wear and Friction.
cheers :)
