Hi All,
The 1st round of Retro CanAm and F1 for the HSC Club Season was run with 8 entries on Saturday 3rd February.
We had 2 races of 4 each so as to allow for marshalling.
CanAm
Race 1
Well Brad has come back in 2018 with some form and he just blitzed the field finishing 15 laps up on Stoo who held down 2nd all the way.
The best tussle was between Joe and Josh who swapped around a couple of times until Josh managed to steal 3rd from Joe with a good final bracket of 22 – great effort from Josh who is pretty fast but still learning at only 12 years of age and only a couple of outings on the Flatster.
Race 2
All the way win for me although it was a very close race.
Darryl was only 3 laps down at the end of the 6th and I had Purple and Black to negotiate! Darryl pulled a lap back in the 7th with a great run of 23 on Red leaving me 2 laps up and on Black with Darryl on Green for the last bracket. I could see him closing fast – 1 lap gone and he is still coming and as he got really close I knew I would probably just make it ok when he made sure of it with an uncharacteristic de-slot. Close racing.
Matthew and Neil came home in 3rd and 4th respectively.
The Wash-up
Very close race with fast time being set by Brad overall with 5.029 on Blue and on 5 of the lanes overall. Interestingly Brad and I both had the same time on Green – I have never seen that before. Darryl was the king of Red.
F1
Race 1
Brad again but this time Stoo was on his tail the whole way to finish only 2 laps down.
Matthew and Joe swapped around in the 5th for Matthew to reign at the end in 3rd followed by Joe.
Race 2
All the way for me with no pressure especially after Darryl hit trouble and missed most of the 3rd.
Neil got a sniff of 2nd for a bracket until Darryl regrouped and finished in 3rd followed by Josh having his first outing with a F1.
The Wash-up
Fairly good win for me followed by Brad and Stoo. Fast time of 5.031 (very quick for F1 race time) and 5 lanes overall for me with Stoo quickest on both gutters and Brad on White.
Our newest racer – good to have Matthew's son Josh on board as he is very enthusiastic and lowers the average age of the racers by about 10 years
Can’t wait to do it again and thanks as always to James for hosting us.

Thanks once again for the report and piccies Mark. Good job.
Good to have 8 starters, and welcome to Josh.
Brad hasn't lost any of his speed, with some good times and lap totals. Goodonya Brad.
Congrats to the placegetters.
Sorry I couldn't make it, and planning to front up for the next round on the BT.

Thanks Mark for the report, and thanks again for sharing your chassis designs.Good racing by all I think. Is it possible to make a retro go any faster on this track? As you all know the tire thing fascinates me.I noticed Darryl had Protrack tires on.Not only did they look good they obviously work good to.Looking forward to next round.BRAD.
