Hi All
The 4th Round of the SRC was held on the SSME track this Tuesday, 25th July and attracted 15 starters for CanAm and 16 for GT1.
CanAm
Race 1 – Round-Robin of 7
Darryl took it away by 6 laps on Casey who was closely followed by Stoo, Ron and (newbie to Retro) Mitch. Pretty good run by Mitch I thought. The Baxter boys were a little off the pace tonight and finished a little behind Mitch.
Race 2 – Round-Robin of 8
A close battle between Steve K and myself here with Gregg T hot on our tails. A bit of a gap then saw Paul, Brad, Stevo, Neil and Bill finish with 7 laps between them – close racing.
The Washup
Well Steve K makes it 2 in a row at this venue with the same lap total as the last round to finish a lap up on Darryl and myself who tied for 2nd.
I was trying a new car I had built for the HSC Big Track and although it had a few issues to be sorted out it was quick and so I was very pleased.

GT1
Race 1 – Round-Robin of 8
Darryl just smoked them here with Steve K and Stoo filling the minors. Darryl and Stoo’s cars were in a class of their own and did some blistering times including the nights best of 3.938 for Stoo and 3.960 by Darryl.
Stoo was followed by Ziggy running a loaner from Ron and it was nice to see a young racer do relatively well. The rest of the field was well spread with Mitch and Stevo following whilst both Andrew and Bill struck issues which cruelled their chances.
Race 2 – Round-Robin of 8
Casey here and then daylight to Brad, Myself, Neil, Wayne, Gregg and Paul – all within 4 laps followed by Ron 3 laps back. So 7 laps split Casey off the field and then the field was spread over a further 7 laps.
The Washup
Darryl in a class of his own overall followed by Casey and Steve K on the same lap and then Stoo a further lap down. Stoo was having all sorts of trouble on Blue where his car liked to launch after the bank and crunch into the wall – ouch – cost him 2nd for my money but that’s the way it goes sometimes.
Podium Cars
Only managed to get a pic of Casey's 2nd place car.
It’s worth noting that Ron applied additional spray goo to the track during practice and this made the night more enjoyable as the track became fast and had predictable traction as witnessed by the times and laps.
Two times under 4 seconds (by Stoo and Darryl) and a full 19 laps more than in the last round GT1 race here.
Gregg T won the last GT1 race here with 149 laps and managed the same total here (he is very consistant) for 10th!, all in all 11 of 16 drivers equalled or beat the last race total of 149.
Just like to finish by thanks the SSME club guys for putting on the race and Ron for the great traction.
