Well the Final Round of this 2009 CanAm series was Another Great Race.
In Fact, it was an AMAZING Race, with 1st to 4th on the Same lap !! Fantastic !!,...More of This thanks
Once again a rather Small field,..BUT Once again, a VERY Good field.
Plus we had another Old Racer from Waaay back in the Early G&D days Peter Ellis, who used to race with Wayne and Myself and some of the Other older guys in days gone by, turned up to to Have a Race!! Mind you he Had been Practicing,..and Really drove Very Well, and consistently, probably Only making the odd error, whilst trying to keep up with this Very Fast bunch,..which He was doing towards the end as well,..Great stuff !!,..Really hope to see you run again Peter. Was great to see another Oldie, still driving Real Well !!
So along with Peter, we Had 8 starters, WayneB once again declining to race, running the race for us,..Thanks again Wayne, Would have been an even Better race had you run as well.
So we decided to have 2 x heats of 4 drivers, top3 moving up, to have 6 drivers in the main, so we had some marshalls !!,..lol
Qualifying, was pretty good too,..with even Peter Ellis doing a Great time,.. 5.350,..Well Done !!
Ivan as well was Very Happy with a Personal Best for His Main Car, turning a 5.297 Once again a great run Ivan.
EDIT;
Qualifying Details and some Other Info I forgot to mention !!
Qualifying;
TQ,..Charles Rickards 4.874 !,... See Below
2nd James Colfax 4.876
3rd Mark Fox 4.905
4th Cody Bramble 4.987
Stoo 5.115
Ivan Levanic 5.297
and Peter Ellis doing a Very Good Job with an Old 'Loaner' 5.350!
Charles' Great time was done with ,...now Wait for it !!,...Yep One of them Danged Slick 7 Retro Kits !!
Charles had Two cars on the night his Normal Retro car, ( a Very Nice and effective personal build) and this New Slick 7 car.
It's a Very easy going and Cordial 'affair' at HSC, especially last nite, and it sure seemed to go pretty well around this rather demanding and tricky track.
We didn't mind, in fact Most of us were Interested to see how it went !!
Pretty Well Really eh !!??
From the results, in Both Qualifying and the race, it seemed to be an interesting 'match', it was running Quite 'Light' compared to most of the Other cars, I think 'Chuck' mentioned 111 grams ?,..not sure
So,..irrespective of it's 'Appropriateness' / Legality, whatever, Creds must go to those at Slick 7, for creating what appears to be a very good Handling Chassis.
Heat 1;
This was a pretty smooth and almost trouble free race, with all 4 drivers running fast and clean, with only the top 3 moving up, We ended with James, Cody and Troy heading to the Main, unfortunately simply Outrunning Ivan, who was definitely up against three of the Top Guns at the moment.
Once again, there were some extremely Hot lap totals done. As noted many times, the Pace is Hot !!
Heat 2;
This was a case of Just trying to follow the Others Home and try and finish ahead of Peter !! (for Myself) that is !!
Once again, still Happy with this Last chassis of mine, but I think the Motor is Now finally past it's Best,..Not bad Mind you, a Lot of Practice and ALL but One nights Racing, ALL on the same motor, Pretty good Value really,...Anyway, I digress,..
A very Fast, smooth and good race, pretty clean as well, with More great lap totals being done, there being Very Little difference between the laps in Both heats !!
So,..we ended up with James Colfax, Charles Rickards, Cody Bramble, Mark Fox, Troy Boldy and Stoo Amos in the Main.
Final;
This Really was a Fantastic and unbelievably Close race for almost the Whole event, Fantastic racing, and thoroughly enjoyable, even though a complete disaster for myself.
After a not Perfect start on Red, Green was looking good, until right at the very end, about a lap or two before the power went off,..My Car just Stopped Dead !!
Oh well, guess that motor has Gone !!,..but NO !!
Even though I Was Oiling the Rear bushings,..I mustn't have done a Very good Job on one side, as the axle Seized !! It took Great effort to Turn the Wheels and actually took me some time to Realise what had happened. A couple of Very short sharp Taps and Ping,..out shot the axle and a sigh of relief when the New axle, ran OK, (so atleast the chassis wasn't bent!).
Got it all back together, but Missed the whole of the 3rd bracket and only did 18 laps in the 4th bracket, so apart from just enjoying the racing, My race was Done and Dusted,..Managed to do the Only 35 on White for the Nite in The Last Bracket !! Heck 4 of us turned 35's in the Last Bracket !!
Like I said this race was Close !!
Cody, James and Charles Tussled Full On for the Whole Race, Each of them Holding the Lead at some stage of the race,..at times Only 2 laps covered 1st to 5th !!
Whilst the three up front were Battling away, Troy was doing his usual job of driving Extremely Well and was closing on the leaders, along with Fox who seemed to be having a Great race with his New Car, which also Looked like it was working Real Well !!
So, heading into the Last 2 brackets, things changed, Cody dropped to 5th, mark managed to get 4th, Charles dropped to 3rd and Troy Sneaked in to 2nd and James Got the Lead Back,..Phew !!
The Final Outcome and lap Totals being;
1st James Colfax 269 laps !! Edited, Oops Sorry James,..I'd Stolen Two Very Hard fought laps from you,..lol
2nd Troy Boldy 267 laps !!
3rd Charles Rickards 267 laps !!
4th Mark Fox 267 laps !!
5th Cody Bramble 265 laps !!
6th Stewart Amos 208 laps
Fantastic!!,..Everyone one was doing 33's, 34's and 35's, the Lowest total by Anyone (apart from My Zero and 18), was a 30 !!
Fox put a new Motor in, kinda wish I had Now, as I was driving the Pants of My car and just Had No Legs !!,..Oh well,..Can't complain about the Value and Heck the Car is still Not Slow !!,..it's Just Tired !!,...lol
So once again, a Really Great Nights racing was I believe, had by ALL.
Thanks again to James and Wayne etc at HSC, for another thoroughly enjoyable evenings Racing.
Got a Few pics, but must have had the camera on a weird setting as many were blurred,..DOH !!
Will Post them soon.
See Ya all in a Coupe at the Next Race
You Know,..for someone who IS actually a pretty Reasonable photographer,..I took some Uselewss Photos last Night !!,..DOH !!,..MUST Have a Look at the Camera settings,....anyway,..here are a Few piccies,..including Fox's New Chassis,..which Both Looks and 'Feels' Great,..sorta has that 'Right Stuff' feel in your Hand!,..lol
I haven't seen it without the Body, so I have No Idea How it is Hung Together,..but it would appear to be 'Effective' !!,..
I'm, sure Mark will inform us further.

Re: Round 6 HSC CanAm 09
Wow!! What a close final.
Congratulations James. That's a good one to win.
Thanks for posting a report Stoo.
Any pics.
Guess we know who won the series, but who made it to the podium?

Re: Round 6 HSC CanAm 09
Ooops !!!
Seems like maybe the Final Wasn't Exactly as Close as I had initially Mis-Read !,..DOH !!,...
Sorry James,..
My Poor Eyesight,..not accounting for those Lousy Printouts ofcourse !!!,..ROFL
In Reality, James had a 2 lap lead at the end of the 6th bracket and Held that till the end, finishing on 269 !!
It Was a Great Race !!
