Somewhat difficult to know where exactly to 'post' this info',... but,...
After attending and competing in some of the Local Club Racing at Armchair racer this last Wednesday 20th February,
Ian Bannister apparently suffered a Major Heart attack and although many fellow racers tried to assist Ian, he was apparently pronounced DOA after his arrival at the Local Royal North Shore Hospital.
Ian was Easily one of Australias Top racers in his day and was part of "Team TESTOR", in association with Steve Hutchesson amongst others.
Ian also worked for many years at Dawn Trading.
Very Sad news.
Regards,
Stewart
RIP Ian Bannister
Re: RIP Ian Bannister
Sorry to hear - was discussing this with Stuart less than 2 weeks ago - we spoke about the old times, racing 40 years ago with the likes of:
Ian Bannister
Donnie Elmore
Steve Hutchesson
Brian Hunt
Brian Titherage
Steve Slowe
Jimmy Light
When we were the kids. (myself, Wayne, Stuart and Mark)
It was really sad that Ian passed away so soon after that conversation.

Re: RIP Ian Bannister
I did'nt know Ian, but saw him race in 1968 in Adelaide and competed against him for SA in the final of the Jack Brabham Trophy (Nats at that time) on the G&D 6 lane Hillclimb in 1969 (my first interstate race when I was still at school).
Ian was a great driver and a very fair competitor.
Very sad when this happens, so now both he and Rick Bishop (who won in 1968) have passed. Coincidental that both had pretty bad eyesight.
