Due to a few changes in the scheduled Plafit races since the beginning of the year and the arguably poor turnout at the races so far, I thought I'd 'post' this question regarding the upcoming races taking us to the end of the Year.
The 'Last' round, (held just prior to the MCN), was scheduled to have been a "Grp C, F1 and GTJ" race, but due to the iminent MCN and the fact that the racing was to be held running in reverse of what was Our Normal direction, was changed to allow for Practice of the classes to be run in the MCN. (Therefore 1/32 Modern GT, Mini-Z's and GTJ's were Raced).
In a somewhat similar fashion the "Grp C, F1 and GTJ" round just Prior to the APC earlier in the year, was changed to a 'Test & Tune' event, to allow for practice of the classes to be held in the APC. (Therefore, 1/32 Modern GT, 1/24th Historics and GTJ's were Run).
This was obviously appreciated by those intending to run those classes in those events, but it (along with the inclusion of and subsequent ownership by the locals of Extra cars such as Mini-Z's and F1's etc) has created an odd situation that could perhaps be changed to, (Hopefully) allow More people that own the various cars to turn up to race.
Previously, we had been running 1/32 Modern GT and 1/24th Historics on one evening and Group C, (which was originally Hard Bodied cars) and GTJ's on the alternate dates.
As Lexan Group C's became popular and F1's were also included, we Now have Grp C's F1's and GTJ's scheduled in the Calendar,....BUT,..that was before the Uptake of Mini-Z's.
Whilst chatting to Dale at the MCN, we were both lamenting the fact that we had not really had the opportunity to race the Group C's for quite some time, in fact so far,..ONLY One round !!,..(due to the changes in the racing schedule as explained above) and the fact that perhaps a few of the regular runners who have not raced recently, being due to them Not having Many of the cars to race on the scheduled Dates, it was suggested that Perhaps a few More could be 'enticed' back, if the Scheduled classes and dates were slightly changed.
As far as I am aware, quite a few of the Earlier racing regulars, have 1/32 Modern GT's, 1/24th Historics and Group C's, but do Not have Mini-Z's, F1's or GTJ's.
As such,..perhaps we could run the 1/32 Modern GT, 1/24th Historics and Lexan Grp C cars on one evening and the Mini-Z's, F1's and GTJ's on the alternate dates. Does this idea sound interesting/sensible/appropriate to anyone else?
So in that regard, if No one Else is, I am wondering Which classes we will be running at the Next scheduled Plafit round which is supposed to be for the 1/32 Modern GT and 1/24th Historics.
One Other point of 'Note', was the fact that the event Prior to the APC, was as previously described, a 'Test & Tune' event and as I did Not attend that evening, can Only presume that NO actual Racing was held, as No Championship points were awarded for the various classes run on the evening, whereas, the MCN Test event held just recently, apparently Were 'Races', as Championship Points Were awarded for the various classes raced, which seems a bit 'odd', as in effect one of the classes was not Scheduled to have been Run on that date.
So, I guess I am just trying to get some clarification regarding all the above and also wondering whether the suggested class inclusions would seem to be appropriate for the future events to all those interested/intending to attend.
Assuming ofcourse that there Are in fact Enough people that actually Give a damn!!,.. ,..as so far the roll-up for our Local Plafit racing has had some seriously Sad Numbers !!
Cheers
