HSC Aussie Retro CanAm &F1 Round 2 2010

Post by stoo23 »

You know,..over the Many years I have been racing slot cars, every now and then, you attend/have a race that that Takes the 'Cake' for the Best slot car race you have Ever Had,...Last Night, was Most Definitely one of those evenings.

Look, I was oretty damned Impressed with both the Quality of drivers and the Fast and Clean racing we had at the HSC 2010 Plafit Series. Specifically the driving in the CanAm Final,..and Whilst That was One Damn fine and Clean race,..it Almost 'Plaes into Insignificance', when compared to the driving displayed by ALL Finalist in Last Night's Retro Can Am Final.

I think it was the 5th bracket before I had a De-Slot and In ALL Honesty,..it was the Same across the Whole Field.

As Mark Fox commented on the journey home,..."I don't think I have EVER Been in Such a Clean Slot Car race",..AND I think he is Correct.

The Marshalls basically just sat and watched a Truly Fantastic Race !!

Right across the board it was Very, Very tight, the Finishing Order Broken up by 1/000th's of a second!!

As we were driving, the Smiles and sense of Pure Enjoyment, was rather Intoxicating, it was Truly an Amazing Race, with everyone having Quick Cars and ALL the drivers, Very Capable of Motoring Along Very Quickly Thank You.

I think, what Makes racing Retro's So enjoyable here in Sydney at HSC, IS both the Wonderful and friendly Environment, BUT Mainly the Extreme Quality of the Drivers. It doesn't really matter What class you are racing at HSC, there is a Very Healthy Depth of Very Good Talent.

We have a number of relative Newcomers to Both Slot Racing in General and especially to Retro and in the Past year, we have seen them progress from simple Keen and perhaps Not so Talented drivers, Into Racers that Rarely DeSlot and are Capable of Challenging the 'Heavy-weights' for the Win let alone arguing over the Minor placings !!!

There is Absolutely Nothing Better than Having a Full Field of cars Tearing around, bracket after bracket, with No accidents etc,...
Pretty Much the Whole Field Stonkered around last Night doing Lap totals ANY of us would have been happy to do a Year ago,..Now, it is Commonplace !! ,...... "BLOODY FANTASTIC" is All I have to say,... :D :D :D

Will Fill in the 'Details' shortly, Fox took some Pics, so should have the Lot up soon.

As a Teaser, Fox beat Troy, after a Fantastic Battle, by 4/1000ths and after battling Back up from 6th, to 3rd, RobG, 'Pipped' me 'At the Line', by what Must have been Mere Car lengths!!,..Once again,..Bloody Fantastic and Well Done Rob!!,..Great Drive.

May I say it is Extremely Pleasant and enjoyable, to Race each meeting against the Quality of drivers that usually turn up for the Retro (and Plafit) events.

As 'Brocky' used to say,.."How GOOD is THIS" ??!!

:D

Good stuff Stoo,

We really enjoy being able to read and look at the pics of your racing up at Hornsby, but can someone please tell Troy that the HDT never made it to Can Am!!

P.S. those F1 cars look really good.

Hey Geoff,..

Thanks !!,.. :D :D

It's Nice to Know that Someone is reading and Enjoyong the Reports !!

As to the 'Paint-Work',..Hmm,..Yes,..I guess it Must be a somewhat 'Personal' Liking for That 'Livery', as I think it also Encompasses a Few OTHER Vehicles, that he owns !!,..lol

Mind You, Dale Andersen has 'afforded' GULF, with a Much Greater Sponsorship Coverage than it Ever had in Reality !!,..(sorry Dale,...You Know I Too like the Gulf Cars!!,..lol).

Hey,..I Hope you Noticed My 'TrueSale' Ferrari 612, in amongst all those Ti's!!,.. ;) ;)

Mate,..the F1's, are a Complete Blast to Drive!,..Quite Different from the CanAm's, AND I would have to say, Going a Heck of a Lot Better I think, than Many of us thought they Would.
To be Honest, even with all thos 'Exposed' Wheels,..the Racing Has been surprisingly Clean,..BUT,..perhaps, as noted in My reports, it is Due to Very Good driving on behalf of those that Race.

Most of the races have been Very Clean, BUT, when accidents Do Happen,..Well,..They Tend to Be BIG,..lol,..with Cars 'Jettisoning' themselves Off the Circuit and Through the Air,..Quite Dramatic !!,..So a 'Sturdy' car is Most definitely a Good Idea !!,..lol

They ARE Great Fun !!!

I have a couple of Ferrari Bod's almost ready to run,..so will 'post' some piccies, when Done,.. ;) :D :D

Cheers,
Stewart

Ahhh,..AHEM !!!,..Well there My Dear GOOD Friend,..being one who Started Racing when the 'Term,.. "Track Call", was a Completely Unknown Expression/Expletive !!,..rofl,..I am Most Definitely of the School of what the Whole 'Concept' of these 'New-Fangled' Track Calls were/Are All about!

As has been Expressed by Many others Many times in the Pre-cursor of This Forum,..Especiallyafter a relatively Recent Wing Car race,..

If there Aren't going to Be ANY Track Calls ...Except at the Discretion of the Race Director and for the Correct reasons,..NOT Because as you have 'Hinted' at, EVERY Time Someone/a Few cars come off !!

If you Know there Won't be Any Track calls,..You DO Drive Differently!!

In Some of the Retro Races,..we have Often had Only a Few Marshalls,...Amazing How carefully one Can drive when you Know there Isn't a Marshall for That Corner !!!,..lol

On the Track we Race on at HSC,..Track Calls at Times ARE a MUST !!,..as there is a Very Difficult section of Track to Retrieve Cars from, WITHOUT Causing General Havoc amongst 'Innocent' Cars and when Used WITH Discretion,..allows for a Very Good Racing experience,..as you Would Imagine eh !!??,.. :D :D

BUT, May I say Once again,..that of recent times, the Racing for the Most Part IS Incredibly Clean and there is Ofte very Little for the Marshalls to do,..Which Can be a Problem, as they Start Watching the Race and when cars Do Come off they are caught off Guard !!,..WHAT???,..NO !!!,..Not at HSC !!,..BUT,..Once again,..As I said,..the Marshalling at HSC Retro and Plafit racing is Fantastic!
Everyone takes Marshalling seriously.

What can I say,..a Great Place and bunch of people to Race with and against!!

:D
