Hi Wayne,

So that's G27 with single magnets, is this what they call G27 light in the U.S. and Brazil.

I originally proposed Gr7, if everyone preffers 27's to grp7 that is fine by me.

Same concept. This would differ from 27 lights for tke following:

27 Lights is steel chassis only
27 lights dictate 400 * 400 magnets only.

My proposal was to use Alpha 365 high magnets which I can get cheaply - they should sell for around $15 mark at the Hornsby, when u add GST and exchange rate.

I would have preffered the racing to be locked to this magnet type - U can get better magnets ie 27 Lite style but expect the cost to be more around the $80 mark per set.

But that is my prefference and I am just putting up a suggestion. Whether we run grp 7 or 27's in spray both will be fast.

Happy for more feedback. Which ever way, magnets have been ordered and shipped. I guess if no one wants to run I can build 40 hard disk erasers.

This is becoming confusing. Lindsay suggests single Mag G7 racing in spray goo in an effort to attract more racers but without the high cost of magnet seperation, and went to the trouble of sourcing a suitable G7 single magnet.
Now the thread has moved onto G27 lite???????? and the proposed 4 race series, assuming it relates to Lindsay's proposal as it was in the same thread doesn't commence until mid year?????
I'm of the thinking that the G27 spraygoo racing in last years format provided enough challenge to a wing car racer to build and race a competitive car that was fast to drive and affordable to race if a conservative magnet configuration is selected, eg A Koford Big 6 with a .500 arm. In other words the rules were liberal enough to run any mag configuration, but generally the racer would choose a conservative setup that provided good HP without the sting in the backpocket created from replacing/repairing a multi mag set-up. I might add it also provided a good testing environment for G@& full glue racing.
James, there are already some disenchanted NSW G27/7 wingcar racers, because of the lack of any events for these cars apart from the ADC in HSC's 2010 calender, the confusion here compounds the problem by having a direct impact on their enthusiasm to race these cars. G27 has been the most popular class in years gone by, and as Geoff Little remarked at the ADC-its not often you see more G15 entries than G27.
I think there is a great opportunity here to build up G27 racing once again, and look forward to your thoughts.

Not that it's really any of my business but where did the idea for G27 with single magnets come from!!!

Better dig out those old Alpha Single Set ups.

Just an update,

the magnets have arrived, actually arrived a few weeks ago, just I have not managed to get to Hornsby to deliver them - will do within the next few weeks.

So all is looking fine for the first race Wayne has scheduled.

I looked at the packet and they dont say whether they are Grp 27 Singles or Open singles.

As the class seems to be for Grp 27 I guess I will use a 27 arm, but if given a choice I would run an open arm.

Guess u had a good weekend, that red team ran consistently apart from being blown away by the car with wings early on.
