Has anybody carried a performance test between a Falcon 5/7 to a Plafit Fox II.
I am after a reliable S type motor that is quite a bit slower than the Falcon 5/7 and yet as reliable without losing too much performance over its life.
Plafit vs Falcon
Re: Plafit vs Falcon
The Fox is great little motor with heaps of torque and they last well
I used to use them in my hire cars and they were pretty reliable
We introduced a crossover class to introduce scale racers to comercial type cars using the international 32 chassis and the racing was super close
They are a lot slower than Falcon 7's though
Falcon 7 is about the same as a 16d
Plafit Cheeta is about 80% of 16d
Plafit Fox is about 60% of 16D rated at about 24k from memory
Cheetas are also great motors so if the fox is a little slow you could try them
Cheers Pete

Re: Plafit vs Falcon
Only thing is,..They Aren't "S" Type Motors !!
What were you wanting to 'Fit' these to?
Some of the 'ScaleAuto' motors are Good Mabuchi 'S' type motors and are available in a Variety of RPM and Torque ratings.

Re: Plafit vs Falcon
Thanks Pete that is the info I wanted.
We are putting them in a Champion TF class to introduce newbies to racing so they can stay and to make it easier for them, and hopefully make it seem like they can compete.
I will try both motors.
Stoo how correct you are sorry to confuse, no I don't want S type motors.

Re: Plafit vs Falcon
Hey Gill
Didnt realise it was you
on your flat tracks the fox will probably be great for new drivers in fact the new owner of my raceway is about to kick off a simular thing with Fox motors in flexi chassis and aussie muscle car bodies
They are nice to drive on his smaller raod courses and keep the racing much cleaner than letting newbies loose with S16d's
The falcon 7 motors are really harsh and the power seems to come on really quick which can make them a handfull to drive and esp with a basic controller

Re: Plafit vs Falcon
Totally agree Pete, we think the Falcons are now too powerful and fast, hence the search for slower motors that newbies can drive.
