Re: Revised Calendar

I am sorry to see retro slowing down but it does make sense for reasons that Geoff mentioned. When I first started playing with retro cars I had hells own job getting enough stuff to actually build one. Fox and Stooo helped out with some of their old bits, Wayne ratted through his own bits and the ...

Re: Phone call from an old timer.

Eddie and Gary Kee were friends of Ian and Ian went back about 20 years after he retired to drive in a few races for Eddie. The problem is with guys like Dave and Ian that they are no longer geared to build the cars so either myself or some friends would have to build cars for them and even harder ...

Phone call from an old timer.

I got a phone call back from an old friend recently, David Rittie who I have not spoken to for about the last 10 years or so and it was good to hear from him again. Apart from having retired then gone straight into build lightweight aircrafts as his current hobby but as with any who raced in the old ...

Re: Version 2 of Australian Classic rules.

I have already had one problem pointed out that needs to be changed. * (b) Front clearance at front wheel location must clear 0.015" wire. The measurement should be taken at the furthest front part of the chassis as there are designs around that have chassis that extend well past the front axle ...

Version 2 of Australian Classic rules.

This is the second version of the proposed Australian Classic racing rules. There have been a number of changes in accordance with a number of the sugggestions that different people have made. The text is currently in plain text format as its easier to compose and edit to paste into the forum. A ...

Re: Draught OZclassic rules

Hi Geoff, Thanks for your comment. I suffered the addiction back in the 60s/70s of winding and balancing motors but much of it can't be done any longer. Back then I had class H wire, facilities to true commutators, silver braze wire to commutators and Monsanto resins to bake the armatures. The other ...

Re: Draught OZclassic rules

John, Thanks for your comments. This is my take on the suggestion for steel chassis. I personally built and raced steel cars in 1970 as both anglewinders and sidewinders so there is a historical precedent for them if history in the criterion but it lends itself to a different technology and style of ...

An evening at Plucka's new track at Ingleburn.

I went with Mark Fox and Stooo last night to have a first look and play at Paul's new track at Ingleburn. Trip out on the expressway was no big deal apart from going in peak hour. The track is new and was build by Peter (Area3) with Paul doing the painting of the surface and wiring along with the ...

Re: WSMCR-Ingleburn..

I have just come back from spending a pleasant evening at Plucka's Ingleburn track and I must admit I am very impressed with the new track that is set up there. As you would expect with a new track the track is smooth, I could not notice any bumps or bad joins, the braid and contact was excellent ...

Re: Draught OZclassic rules

I have answered bantamjack's post at the URL http://www.mrslotcar.com.au/race/showthread.php?p=5705#post5705 If anyone else has a comment, especially over the bodies it would be useful to hear it. The current leaning from various people is to not specify a date based cutoff but to ensure that only ...

Re: Draught OZclassic rules

Thanks Mark, Both of these make sense, the only one I am worried about is whether the track owners would be happy with a 0.015" clearance for these types of cars. I would be interested in any comments from the older guys who raced back in the 70s as there were many more bodies available than what is ...
